Zion Williamson on injury-prone label: ‘I can’t escape what the world thinks’ | NBA | UNDISPUTED

Zion Williamson’s potential return to the New Orleans Pelicans this postseason is up in the air and he talked to reporters about dealing with the label of being injury prone. Zion said quote: ‘I can’t escape what the world thinks and what people’s opinions are… Physically, I’m fine, now it’s just a matter of when I feel like Zion. I know the atmosphere I’d be entering based off playoff experience, now it’s just a matter of when I feel like Zion.’ Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to Zion’s comments.

  1. I really like Zion– the physics of him & Serena are Divine!!!!! But! Team lost by 5 Fn points. 0 mins, 0 points–you a pro so show up, like ya pay check did

  2. Focus on what you can change, not things you cannot.
Always do your best, no regrets.
That's all you need to succeed mentally, and as far as physically, those are facts not opinions numbnuts.

  3. With the kind of money Zion makes, he can hire a dietician and a trainer. This guy is lazy! Hire a dietician to take that weight off.

  4. Zion =Street Clothes part 2 you can see it on his face he doesn't want to be there They need to trade him because his situation will be a on going issue for him

  5. Zion needs to get away from his stepfather, Louisiana food, fast food, and food in general. He needs to man up and play no matter how big the market is.

  6. lmao skip at the end of the video when she said she was still gonna root for her pelicans. "Good for you"

  7. It's funny how these young player's aren't able to play a full damn season. Like they need to draw up some more contracts 😂

  8. I think they need to leave the kid alone Shaq was bigger than 280lbs.& it helped his game, & Barkley said when he lost too much weight, he got down to 230lbs.he had to go back up 20lbs.because he got weaker if he strengthen his joints & ligaments to where they can handle his explosiveness he should be fine at 280lbs or a little less, cause if you take away too much of this man's weight he is going to lose the explosiveness & power, because most of that weight is muscle!

  9. Everybody know zion supose to play doc is clear him even say I'm healthy to play but hesitant dunk before game c'mon just try and see

  10. FFS, he is overweight 😮. It doesn't take a genius to work out why he is always injured.

  11. Stop w the bull jive . Zion was drafted as an immature kid. Novak djokevic played and WON this years Australian open with a 3 centimeter hamstring tear for the entire tournament . Zion is a spoiled. Baby

  12. He got his millions. He finessed the league. They should sue players that fall off after big contracts.

  13. Just like the Nets team docs cleared Harden to play? And how the Celtics team docs cleared IT to play?

I fully support and encourage all professional athletes to seek outside opinions. Team doctors are just that…doctors that work for the team. I know I'd damn sure want a doctor that is looking out for my interests.

  14. This is why they should structure the contract around the games palyed and everything bc this b*****s get payed and forget to walk and those money can be used for different things , just my opinion

  15. AD should start a support group for injury prone players. He's seen the worst of the abuse lol

  16. New Orleans needs 2 find uh thirsty franchise that's desper8 4 sum fools gold & git all u can 4 Zion ina trade…even if it's in tha same damn division. Zion ain't that dude & that trade ain't gunna end up bitin' u in tha end. U should b able 2 git more than what Utah got 4 Gobert…✌🏽😁❤🏀

  17. Fact: A 38-year-old LeBron James has played in 111 regular season games in the past two seasons. A 22-year-old Zion Williamson has played in 114 regular-season games the past four years.

Williamson always struck me as being attracted to large brands, and he envisions himself as being a large NBA brand (a la the next Jordan or LeBron, based on the hype he received and his unique skillset). The reason people believe he wanted the New York Knicks to get the first pick in the 2019 draft is because he thinks being a big star in the nation's largest media market would catapult him even faster into that stratosphere.

Instead, New Orleans (which has the second smallest NBA market after Memphis) gets the first pick of the draft. It looked like Williamson was disappointed when the Pelicans won the lottery. Fast forward to today, and he's missed roughly two-thirds of all possible games.

The weight gain and the inattention to conditioning come across like he's acting out those frustrations. It seems like Williamson plays just enough to showcase what he can do, but not so much that he makes himself such an asset that New Orleans would dare not trade him. Additionally, there's enough noise around him and this speculation about the Knicks that other teams are not going to want to pursue him in a trade. And now that Williamson got that guaranteed contract that starts next year, you wonder if he feels even more emboldened to miss even larger blocks of seasons with New Orleans.
