Don’t forget about EJ

Just don’t want fans to forget that we have EJ coming to help the team next season. I had EJ going as high as pick 17 to the Rockets. It will be like adding an extra FRP to this team next year. This video had me licking my lips with anticipation:

Thing David Griffin needs to remember is if he gets a vet via trade or free agency that Willie won’t play him, so he needs to be smart about who goes for

Do we know what Griff was referencing when he said that the roster construction will be most heavily impacted by the changes in the CBA?

I liked him too but just because you had him 17th doesn’t mean it’s like adding a FRP. He’s a mid second rounder coming off of an injury.

I really hope it works out, but let’s not get carried away with counting on him to solve problems next year

If he were in this years draft where would he go? I get that he’s our guy but he’s an undersized PF who is 22 years old coming off of an ACL injury that sidelined him for a year. He was picked in the middle of the second round last year. Truth is, if he was somehow in this year’s draft he probably goes undrafted so I think it’s misleading to say that adding him is like adding a first round pick.

I’m excited about him too and fortunately players return from ACL much better than they used to but in general they struggle to get back to where they were beforehand. The guy is on a two way and likely will spend a lot of time in the G League. Only the best rookies post positive +/- as it is. I’m rooting for him but I think we need to be honest with ourselves. If he shows out, great. Expecting him to be a positive contribution next year seems like setting yourself up for failure.
