    >“I’m going to continue to say the real,” Murray told The Athletic following a practice. “Quin came in with the mindset of, ‘Shit, let’s go win now.’ Obviously, we’re not going to focus on the record. Forget about all that. Let’s find ways to build winning habits. He’s been phenomenal, man. I would go through a brick wall for him.”

    >“I’m focused on the Atlanta Hawks vs. the Boston Celtics right now,” he said. “I’m not worried about a dollar, a contract, nothing. I’m not worried about tomorrow. I’m worried about today, coming into the gym and getting better. Right place, right time, and that’s for another time.
    >
    >”But there are things important to you other than money, correct?
    >
    >“Winning,” he said. “Winning. That’s it. Winning. That’s it. Winning.”

    >But there’s no question Murray is the kind of player and person the Hawks want to keep as they attempt to build a new culture, along the lines of what Snyder had in Utah and Murray experienced in San Antonio. They are aligned in philosophies about the game.“That’s because you have two guys who are willing to learn, willing to take criticism, whatever it takes to win,” Murray said. “If I have to take all the weight, the criticism and the praise, he’s built for it, and he knows I’m built for it. He’s always like, ‘F the media.’ Nothing personal. But it’s about telling us to not pay attention to it. You can fall in love with the praise, or worry too much about the negativity.”

    >It’s clear the two are close.
    >
    >“The connection I have with DJ is a special one,” he said. “He’s a competitor and he wants to improve. And I think that desire to continually improve is a responsibility I feel on my end — to try to challenge him, and he wants that.”
    >
    >When both were in the Western Conference and the Spurs and Jazz faced each other, Murray said, “We’d give each other a nod. You could see that respect for one another. Just him as a great coach and me as an up-and-coming player trying to become great. I believe in him and I know he believes in me. … He’s a great motivator, a great coach, a student. He’s always asking us what we see. We can ask him questions, and we’re always watching film. We text back and forth. I’m always a guy who watches film but he makes me want to watch film even more.”

Murray had that dawg in him…for us to win this series, let the man off the leash along with Young! Smithers, RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!!!!!!

  3. idk. it’s gonna come down to either Trae or DJ because they don’t mesh, and i don’t think DJ is a max guy. that’s what it’ll take to keep him and the roster is handcuffed if you max him.

Am I the only one scared to death to pay Dejounte 35 mil/yr for 4-5 yrs? His defence has not been as advertised (kinda average really) and he has wicked tunnel vision. If his 3 ball regresses any and his defence doesnt get better he is not worth more than 25 mil/yr.

  5. Jazz fan here, jumped in the sub as soon as Quin signed. I’m all in on rooting for you guys and am happy to see him helping figure out how to make this team work. So much talent that had been wasted this season. Snyder is a great coach and great dude. Happy for y’all.
