last 2 years we get matched up against the worst teams that we had to go against our shitty ass luck

  2. childishgames

I hope JJ, AJ, and Okongwu are in the fucking gym this summer because we really need collins and hunter to be at the end of the bench next season

  3. Darthkdot

We need some contributions from Bey and Okungwu if we’re are going to win a game this series. I didn’t expect much from Jalen in the series as he’s still getting his first real taste of playing time, but we gotta get more from that bench unit, especially when they are playing with Trae.

  4. truth_b0mber

Everytime they run into a team that hustles their ass off and plays really good team defense, they struggle like crazy.

The roster needs an overhaul. But it’s not that easy with the contracts they have.

I’ll say this tho, I am very shocked that trae has barely taken advantage of the offball shooting. Even though his shot is broke as F right now

  5. terrence0258

Maybe getting embarrassed again in the playoffs will motivate the guys on this team to realize they have to learn how to play winning team basketball.

There aren’t any super teams now. As good as Boston is, they aren’t loaded with talent, they just play smart, fundamentally sound basketball.

It’s not inconceivable that this group can mature and take a leap forward next year if they buy into Snyder’s offense and commit to competing relentlessly on the defensive side. There’s talent on this team, but they play the dumbest brand of basketball of all the teams remaining right now.

  6. sparlivdor365

Our own fans so desperate to destroy a generational playmaker and ignoring the whole team got cooked. White took DJM coast to coast, so its not just Trae hunting. Hunter finished w/ 18 most in garbage time and was horrible. Thats just 2 examples. The whole team didn’t play well. Trae getting cooked by his home fans is extremely disappointing of course he’s going to suffer a loss of confidence when his own fans turn on him because the TEAM can’t shoot the 3 besides bogi and thats every 2 games. This team for years has been starved of development because of our horrendous coaching staffs. This is the first real NBA coach Trae has had

  7. SleazyFanatic

Crazy that we had 14 more offensive rebounds and still lost by 13

  8. viceroymccoy

Nice to see the Knicks getting smacked, too

  9. Gater2020

Y’all remember when we got DJM so Trae can play off the ball more..They still just stand around and alternate between hero ball…Like shit makes no sense

  10. Hey at least falcons have a bright future

  11. memeologist6969

Why tf they still playing Nate iso ball. Zero creativity. Everyone playing their own game. This is a sweep.

  12. Happy-North-9969

Trae needs to work on some stuff, but he’s not the problem. This team has too many jump shooters and not enough slashers. It’s a soft, non-physical team

  13. LarryKoofer43

I canā€™t believe Iā€™ve lived long enough in hawks fandom to watch us draft an entire core, top out, blow it up, tank, rebuild just to be left with the same mediocre team we started with 15 years ago.

  14. TraeOlder

Canā€™t blame trae or DJ on this one fellas

  15. WzrdKelly10

I really just wanna see what this new front office can cook up in the offseason. A lot of yā€™all on the ā€œtrade Traeā€ agenda and itā€™s understandable but a part of me still thinks if we can just put the right pieces around him then maybe we can get somewhere. A lot of yā€™all feel like we can be better without him but guaranteed we would feel like a cursed organization if he found success somewhere else lol

  16. vtummala

Watched this game not expecting a win, but hoping for some fucking competitiveness and quality possessions to build off moving forward. Man what a disgrace. I’m resigned to the fact the roster needs an overhaul for that to ever happened, but just hope trae and DJ can be part of a winning ATL team in the future

  17. johnGODlins

i think you gotta keep trae because your alternative is building around DJ and thatā€™s just never gonna get you to contention, but make no mistake if trae doesnā€™t make an enormous leap next season weā€™re basically fucked

  18. Eastatlantalit

Friday night is gonna be a huge game to show the resilience and heart of this team . Nothing more to say besides that really . Boston doesnā€™t lose at home in any era really

  19. darkwingduck9

That was functionally a 20 point loss. The run at the end of the game means nothing.

I want more 3 point shooting on the floor. If Bey, Bogi, or Griffin miss a 3 I am usually not bothered by it. If Hunter or Johnson miss a 3 I am bothered by it because for the most part they shouldn’t be taking them.

Horford and Williams are both PF size and not center size. They are both rarely on the floor together so the Celtics end up having a PF playing center and then four players who are SG/SF size and the Hawks can’t take advantage of the size disparity in the front court.

Hunter scored a decent bit at the start of the game but I never feel great when he has the ball in his hands. Also the Celtics didn’t ISO Tatum against Hunter often. I don’t remember if they did it more than the one time early in the game actually but it felt like that was a mismatch the Celtics could have exploited had they wanted to.

I’m not a big fan of Murray being the 2nd best player/2nd scorer on this team. His shot selection from 3 is typically good, but he is bad at shooting them. He gets to his spots for floaters and midrange shots but those are difficult shots. In my opinion he needs too much shot volume in order to score a decent amount.

I’m interested in seeing how the series goes once it gets to Atlanta, in terms of wins and losses certainly but as I wrote earlier I would also like to see more 3 point shooting on the floor.

  20. The_Original_JGA

We took 15 more shots than them and had more rebounds. Our guys just can’t shoot like them. We get swept easily unless we can start getting buckets to fall.

  21. Honestly this roster is just ass and so poorly constructed. The only thing we had going for us during that ECF run was shooting 3’s, then we got rid of half our shooters and got worse defensively šŸ’€

  22. childishgames

Everyone who defended Deandre Hunter the last two seasonsā€¦ I blame you for his contract

  23. turn_upppp

Atleast the Knicks are getting cooked

  24. jharden10

Hot take: I think 2024 will be a referendum on Trae Young and the Hawks. The front office will give Fields and Quin the offseason to change the roster as they see fit to improve the team. If the Hawks are in a similar spot come this time next season, actual conversations might start about the direction of the team with Trae Young.

  25. moongaia

Trae has more turnovers than made baskets last 7 playoff games, carry on cult.

  26. Quin just gotta formulate a team to his liking

  27. Damn man, feels like it wasnā€™t long ago when we were all so hype about this team in the offseason, predicting a dre leap, Trae off ball, dejounte getting us to the next level, but none of that has happened . All the excitement is just drained

  28. atl1057

Trae must have watched a lot of OKC games growing up . Him and Westbrook are similar in a weird way

  29. x_brokeri

DG playing amazing, could of had him paired with Trae instead of DeAndre lousy Hunter

  30. Your Hawks lose 106-119 in a second disappointing performance against the Boston Celtics. I thought the game was at 7:30 so I ended up watching around the second quarter so highlights/ lowlights start there.

Trae was bad, ending with 24 points,3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals on 9/22 shooting. This includes 2/8 from three, 4/6 ft, and 5 turnovers. Trae had a bad turnover with about 9 minutes in the third dribbling to three defenders and getting a turnover on a pass attempt to Clint. To start the fourth Trae drove on Brogdon and got a foul and-1. Unfortunately, he missed his second free throw of the night. With around 6 to go, he got white in the air and drew a foul. With around 2 minutes in the fourth, he had his three-point attempt blocked and it led to an open Tatum dunk. He got cooked by Derrick White both offensively and defensively who has been 20 ppg this series. Itā€™s been hard to watch. In short, he needs to be better. I expect better. 200 million. Thatā€™s all there is to it. F

Hunter started the same with 10 points and 8 rebounds which is excellent. It doesnā€™t seem like he was good after that. With under 4 in the second he fell down on a drive creating an easy turnover. With under a minute left, he had another turnover where the defender poked away his dribble, which led to another easy basket. To start the third there was another bad defensive lapse allowing Jalen Brown an easy dunk. Hunter has been an open door the whole series as he has been backdoored multiple times throughout the series. With around 8 Hunter got blocked on a three-point attempt but luckily got the rebound and passed it to Clint. Hunter got an offensive rebound off a Trae floater miss from a fast break and tried to pass it out but it went full-court out of bounds. With around 4 minutes left, he faked his defender from three and took a dribble for a midrange make. With under 5 in the game, he got to the free throw line moved off the ball, and hit a shot. He got a meaningless steal with a minute left and made the layup off the fast break. Hunter ended with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists on an awful 8/19 shooting including 2/9 from three. The rebounding was the only positive. I donā€™t think the defense was very impactful. Any assists he had was completely erased by 4 turnovers. The offense was inefficient. I have to give him a Mr. Crocker-style F.

John Collins had 5 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block on a catastrophic 2/11 shooting including 1/7 from three. With 2 minutes in the second JC hit a turnaround jumper. With around six minutes in the third, he went off the dribble spinning in the paint and got stopped and blocked by Robert Williams and Horford. Starting the fourth he had a nice block on a Tatum spin move. Just disappointing overall. I thought that JC would be able to thrive in this matchup but I was wrong. The Celtics even had Derrick White on him at times which shows how they did not take him seriously. JC defended a lot on the perimeter tonight and it didn’t go well. Tatum and Brown were able to sit stepback threes on him. White, JT, and JB were able to get him on their hips when they drove and were able to get buckets at the rim. I donā€™t think it was a lack of effort on JCā€™s part he just looked a quarter to a half step too slow. Six rebounds is low for JCā€™s size and athleticism. He got outrebounded by Tatum, White, and Brogdon. Just disappointing to see because I love JC. Remember this was once a 20 and 10 guy with no major injuries. What happened?? F for JC

Murray was the only one who was decent tonight. 29 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals on a reasonable 11/24fg and 7/13(!!!) from three. Murray had two steals in the third. With around 5 he hit a decently contested three. Murray hit another on the next possession. He got Brogdon on a switch and drove for a one-legged midrange swish. With under 2, he hit a pull-up three-pointer and a floater. Murray along with OO was why we cut the lead down to 9 going in the fourth. There was a very questionable call on Murray for an offensive foul but it looked like a defensive foul on Jalen Brown. Murray’s stat padded with under a minute in the game hitting a three and a driving layup. He did most of his damage in the third going 5/7 fg. The fourth wasnā€™t good and he went 2/6 with those garage time buckets. The on-ball defense was average in my opinion but like last game, he played passing lanes pretty well. In general, he was one of the few who played decently tonight. B

OO has 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks on ā…˜ shooting including 5 offensive rebounds. With under a minute in the third OO got a tip-in and a cutting layup. With under 8 in the fourth, he tied up White for a jump ball and won which led to a Bogi three. He was the second-best rebounder tonight. I didnā€™t see much else either good or bad that jumped out. C+

Bey had 0s across the board except for one rebound in 15 minutes. Missed all 4 shots. F

Capela had 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals in 21 minutes. He got at least one of those steals where the team funneled the defender to the paint where Clint waited. I feel the Celtics were able to take advantage of Horfordā€™s spacing which led to some open shots. Not really a great game in general. C-.

Bogi was good with 18 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals on 7/11 shooting and 4/7 from three. He shot it with efficiency which is what we need him to do. However, on defense, he didn’t really provide much resistance although he got 2 steals. B+

The next game is Friday on our home turf. Itā€™s basically a must-win situation. Iā€™m not expecting much based on these two games but a win here would be great. See yall then.

  31. TraeOlder

If you watch that game and your first Blame is Trae when this supporting cast is so fucking pathetic idk what to tell you

  32. Hailfire43

I give up on this team man. We getting swept, see yā€™all in the off season.

  33. pk-pk-pk

I think trades will definitely have to occur in the off season. The biggest issue with this team is we canā€™t get them all to click at the same time consistently. And when under pressure against a top four seed the team just doesnā€™t gel at all. We also lack a leader in the squad. We donā€™t need a hype man, we need someone that can talk while on the court, we need someone that can take charge. As good as Trae is, heā€™s not a leader. Capela ainā€™t a leader. Murray today is not a leader. Would be good to get in a veteran/leader to guide this team.

  34. Saint_Diego

Same song different verse. Self inflicted wounds against a team we canā€™t afford to make them against. I think the series is over but they can inspire hope for next season if they play the rest of the series tough. They need to stop shying away from contact when the refs donā€™t call it once or twice. It makes Celtics job easier and letā€™s the refs off the hook for swallowing their whistles. Make the Celtics beat us instead of shrinking and letting them dictate the whole game.

  35. DoctorTheWho

The modern day fandom of wanting to blow up teams when 24, 25 year olds aren’t winning championships is crazy.

  36. pakattak

Bey picked a bad time to suddenly be a brick machine

  37. coldprisoner

For all the moves weā€™ve made we still need a bonafide #2 option, assuming we still think Trae is our answer at #1. Itā€™s like our whole team is a third or fourth option. But the the thing about those lower option guys is theyā€™re too inconsistent to be counted on every night. Thatā€™s why we get bogi one night, hunter the next, djm the next, etc etc. Weā€™re stuck in this mid cos thatā€™s our entire damn roster.

Stating the obvious I know but we gotta hope we can move some of these guys and/or have OO, JJ and AJ really grow.

Not ready to give up on Trae yet. Hopefully Quinn can build a better offense in the offseason. But dude has got to be better off the ball. A must. Tired of watching him stand around when DJM has the rock.

  38. Foehammer007

Imagine if we had djm and kev cooking together

  39. Renverseur

Start Trent Forrest and bring back my boy Jarrett Culver

  40. pk-pk-pk

Pains me to say this but thereā€™s no way this Hawks team have the mental toughness to come back from 2-0, Iā€™m calling it a sweep for the Celtics.
