Personally, at least from an emotional place, it’d make me really happy to see Sam Cassell coaching the new Rockets on the upswing of this rebuild.
He’s a pillar of Rockets franchise history, and likable guy. I think he would relate to the young players well.
Looking for evidence to get excited about him from a logical perspective too. I don’t know much about him as a coach, aside from him being an assistant with the Sixers. Is there anything indicating he has what it takes to coach this team to success?

He would have been a great hire 3 years ago, but I dont think he’s a right fit now. His primary skills are developing guards: John Wall in DC, Shai George Alexander and Austin Rivers in LA, and now Maxey in Phila.
I don’t think he had more of a role than as a positional assistant, so hiring him to also manage bigs and the team would be a risk.
He could have been good in developing Green and Porter, but now that we’re moving to a more balanced roster (if we get Wemby), I dont think he could manage.
Yeah, let him run point 🤤
Count me in for no other reason than I want to see Jalen doing the big balls dance towards him after hitting a game winner
Could be great. But I think we need an experienced HC for the time being.
I love him as a player but I’d rather have a proven coach. Maybe bring him on as an assistant and see how he does. Then if the coach doesn’t pan out (Udoka tries to bang jalens GF), then we promote him
Yeah I love Sam but give me Nicky the Nurse shark, Ime “Hide yo wives” Udoka” or Kenny “we’ll think of a nickname later” Atkinson. Personally.
I think we’d see a lot more mid range shots
Cassell, Nurse, and Atkinson would all be great options. I think having a guy who can develop guards would be super useful to us. Green needs direction and KPJ could still become a plus player.
Honestly even Wemby is a guard in a center body.
