Wow just saw that. Shams dropped the bomb before the press conference

  2. crumpledbrouhaha

Thanks for bringing us a chip Nick. This is such an L

  3. shiftydnm

I honestly didn’t think this would happen

  4. DeskReference

So the FO is taking the easiest road instead of the hardest road. Blame the coach. Keep the players.

We’re going to be mid for the next 30 years.

Wow this is crazy. Was never given a solid roster to compete and is yeeted lol

  6. drewtheblueduck

Wellp I mean… easiest thing do to when a team is underperforming

  7. Cheechers23

WOW didn’t see that coming. Was expecting a “mutually agreed to part ways”

  8. eyecposts

Didn’t think it would happen this season damn

Grateful for this man. Best coach the Raptors have ever had. Whoever replaces him has big shoes to fill.

Honestly, shame 🙁 A great coach that I have no doubt will find success elsewhere.

I guess it really is a new era

Can’t believe it. I’ve always thought he was dealt a bad hand with this roster.

End of an era. Great while it lasted, but definitely time to move on.

  13. hard to feel like Nick didn’t get scapegoated for the roster construction.

in his 5 years he outperformed expectations 3 times (3/4 if you don’t count Tampa). this year was definitely disappointing, but how much of that is on Nick vs. the roster construction?

also very interested to see what this means for Canada basketball. not sure Nick would really want to continue given this decision.

No surprise Nick is the scapegoat for a very flawed roster. FO taking the easy way out.

  15. bloopcity

probably a good call. he wasn’t meshing with the team great this year. sometimes you need a change/to shake things up. hope this also comes with roster adjustments.

  16. NinfthWonder

By god, is that Udoka’s music?

  17. If you think any coach is turning the bench mob into a contender you’re just as clueless as the front office. This roster stinks and Nick Nurse undeservedly took the fall for it.

    Wow end of an era

It really makes this feel like it was just 2 years ago he got promoted to HC and we got Kawhi and we won a championship.

Sad to see it go like that, appreciate those early years but yeah. Probably really time.

  19. Nick was instrumental in us winning the championship. Nothing but respect for this man.

Hopeful that the FO knows what they’re doing. Best wishes to Nick and that he finds success whereever he lands.

  20. Will always be grateful for Nurse & Kawhi. Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.

Great coach that had some undeniable flaws (we all know them – starter minutes/the Nursery) but ultimately this is a myopic move by the FO. Nurse isn’t the one who imploded a championship roster to pursue an insane experiment of Vision 6’9″. That was Masai and Bobby’s hubris thinking they know better than how basketball teams have been constructed for decades and our team, and ultimately city, are now paying the price.

  22. emeister26

Don’t like it. There’s not many better coaches out there in my opinion

  23. DeKobe-DeBryant

Disappointing. I’m sure he wanted out too, but it felt like he was gonna be our Pop/Spo and now he’s gone after 1 bad season.

He was not the problem, although he wasn’t perfect. I really hope the front office doesn’t think running the same team back with a different coach is gonna magically turn us into a good team. We still need a complete roster overhaul and honestly a rebuild. Nurse is our greatest coach of all time though, and what he did in 2019 was special.

  24. Nick Nurse helped us get a championship and will always have nothing but respect in this city. I read his book and became a big fan of him as a person in addition to as a coach. I suppose time will tell if this was the right move.

Downvote me idgaf, he was a great coach, that time has passed

  27. Paperbagfham

Good call, too many people on this thread blaming the roster and not the fact that Nick did not care about developing any of our players apart from Scottie.
