I asked Trae Young at shootaround what Quin Snyder has said to him regarding attacking the basket. “We’ve gotten some new sets and things like that to give me some better positions and more attack position…
“…But, I mean, we jus,t we’re still trying to learn new offense and different flows and how to push the pace. And with (Boston), I mean, they’re a really good defense, if you let them get back and set up. So we’re trying to push the pace and go a little faster for sure.”
I followed up w/ asking how they translate what worked in 1Q to tonight: “I mean, just that we were, you’re playing fast. I mean, pushing the pace, we were scoring in transition, we got some stops and ran. I mean, against a good team like this…
“…You can’t you got to limit, your mistakes as much as possible. I mean, starting with me, I gotta be better taking care of the ball and I will be but I think that I mean, it’s a good team got linear mistake.”
On if he has any extra motivation tonight w/ his family grieving the passing of his grandfather. “I have my own motivations. I mean, obviously my grandfather had a great life, a long life. So, I’m blessed to have known him. So, I’m good, I’m just focused on tonight.”
Someone did ask if The Athletic player vote poll where he was voted “most overrated” gave him any extra added motivation going into game, he said. “No, uh uh. No, uh uh, I’m good.”
