In Episode 1386, Sean Woodley reacts to Friday mornings announcement by the Toronto Raptors that they have fired championship-winning head coach Nick Nurse after five seasons with the team. Off the top, Sean digs into his biggest takeaway on the firing, why it feels like the right time for the Raptors to make this move despite all the success Nurse has had, and why the internal locker room dynamics that seemed to decay under his leadership are the biggest reason the move makes sense, not his outside the box preferred playing style. Next, Sean sifts through some of Masai Ujiri’s comments on the firing and the off-season that lies before the Raptors. Ujiri clearly indicated the team has no plans to tank, and Sean thinks that’s good. However, should there be some concern with Masai declaring his belief in Malachi Flynn and Dalano Banton, or will the front office have a plan to tackle the team’s weakness for which it is most to blame: the team’s lacklustre depth beyond the top 7 or 8 guys. Lastly, Sean looks at what comes next for the Raptors, specifically as it relates to the extremely important Scottie Barnes, whose growth over the course of this season and into this summer were big focuses of Ujiri’s presser, and who the next coach might be. He didn’t play the bench much and make them better. He has to hold starters accountable. Look at pascal reacting to the 3 free throws where he missed 2. He doesn’t care one bit. Pascal should be traded for a young talent

Nick nurse sucks plain and simple … you can complain all you want but there was clearly things that we don’t know about.
Nick Nurse is still one of the best coaches but he proved this season the he was not the right fit for this team moving forward. From not adjusting his ball pressure help heavy defensive scheme. Which got figured by the rest of the league. Allowing too much freedom on offense for players which had no real structure. Overplaying the starters running them into the ground for the two straight seasons. Not trusting some of his bench players. Good riddance. Thanks for the championship Nick and also overachieving the year after and even last season but it's time for a new voice

Nick Nurse was a good Coach for the Raptors in 2019 when they won their first championship but the Raptors need a new coach to get better and inject new life and energy into the team
