The frontcourt got absolutely abused, but honestly, we lost because they hit all their semi-contested 3s and we missed a few open ones. It’s the nature of our roster – we don’t have the defensive personnel to force teams to be uncomfortable, so depending on how the coin flip goes for their shots, we win or lose this game.

That isn’t to say that some of our players didn’t play like dogshit, namely JC and Dejounte.

JC was awful, and the reality is he doesn’t have a role in this series. He’s too small to play against their bigs inside and not a good enough shooter to punish them outside.

I think this is the series that will sour me on Dejounte for a while. Too small (and oddly, slow?) to stop Brown, who just waltzes into the lane and shrugs him off. But it’s the incessant gambling that compromises our already mediocre defence that just pisses me off, and in no small part, contributes to us getting lit up on the perimeter.

This roster doesn’t work and has no identity. I actually think the team would work a lot better if we had a less talented but more cohesive team.

  2. chillblackguyy

last 3 games collins is 6/27 3/18 from 3 18 pts nigga so ass bro šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ that shit is criminal

  3. Aardvark-0001

I kinda low key want aj to play next game ā€¦ give him some playoff experienceā€¦ šŸ˜…

  4. Professional_Yak7963

im also praying quin tells dejounte that he cant keep getting blown by on defense next season

  5. moongaia

Ball was had a magnet for celtics players on rebounds.

  6. bequatro

I understand all the frustration comments, but the hawks played hard tonight. We played well, celtics are unfortunately one of the best teams in the league rn and not easy to beat

  7. SmurfAtLarge

Y’all have nothing to be ashamed of. You played a great game and lost to a better team. Absolutely no shame in that.

  8. fredjohnny23

John Iā€™m sorry brother but itā€™s time for him to pack his bags and seek new employment

  9. Foehammer007

Better not hear a peep out of JC. Hawks crowd was there 99% of the game

  10. WESandCASEYtruther

Like Bob always says they just donā€™t miss from 3ā€¦.. that was the difference in the game. Iā€™m sure this will all be discussed rationally and people wonā€™t shit on our players for losing to a red hot 3 point shooting team. Right!? šŸ˜’šŸ™„

  11. Traditional_Escape34

Jaylen Brown is really really damn good. I would give everything on this team to have him dj and trae together.

Will be exciting to see how hawks approach the off-season. Probably good bye Collins. Find shooting at 4, trae with a Snyder off-season is pretty exciting.

  12. elpalomalo

Some of those shots Boston was hittingā€¦insane. We got killed inside all night though.

  13. Drstealyothunder

JC is actually so useless bruh. Start JJ and play AJ off the bench

  14. EuroStepJam

I don’t know what happened to JC, but he plays with zero court sense. He doesn’t even look up for an outlet pass when he rebounds – just looks for Trae or DJ, then puts his head down and runs to one of the corners ready to brick a 3. Basically, he plays like a rookie but he’s in his 6th year.

  15. Financial-Safety8050

Ayye man my boys went out there and battled till the final buzzer!!! The city was lit, man, I canā€™t complain! We need to regroup and see if we can extend the series. If not, hey man, letā€™s make changes this off-season for next year. #GoHawks #HawksIn7

  16. Traes main priority this off season should be to bulk up. They always abuse my man on the switches

  17. Professional_Yak7963

hindsight is 20/20 but we shouldve taken a chance on brogdon in the summer

  18. chrisflight

Serious question. Why the fuck does Colinā€™s get so many minutes? I havenā€™t kept up with the team during the regular season fr. Heā€™s ridiculous on both sides of the ball, itā€™s just bizarreā€¦

  19. Traeisyourdad

I canā€™t believe I wasted my money to go see that shit show love

  20. Cautious_Hornet_9607

JC gonna play with Eric Bledsoe and Michael Beasley next season

  21. travel_p

Going to be a completely new roster new season. Can’t wait. Bogi, Hunter are the only ones that are going to stay since they are signed to an extension. And of course all our young players like AJ, JJ, Okongwu. But all our starters are most likely going to be gone. Ressler already reported Quin can do whatever he pleases with this roster, even made sure to include Trae Young in that report.

  22. contemporaryAmerica

Why did we give up so many layups? Just straight up blown by on the perimeter so many times with no help. I guess weā€™re just that bad defensively on the first step/perimeter and our bigs are stuck spaced out due to their shooting. It was shocking how many layups brogdon and others got

  23. gggg3344

John Collins deserves no excuses. No ā€œheā€™s a great guyā€ no ā€œdonā€™t kick him while heā€™s downā€ none of that shit. If you defend him, even if itā€™s for the above reasons, you are beyond delusional. We are literally better off shutting him down till heā€™s off the team.

  24. SlimDaKang

Fck John collins kick his sorry ass out of atl idc what we get back

  25. WESandCASEYtruther

Tatum and brown? Ok Iā€™m cool with them beating us. Thatā€™s logical and understandable. Gtfo with that absolute scrub Marcus smart beating us. That really pisses me off.

  26. Snacktabulous

We need 3 and D JC is brick and dick.

  27. Aardvark-0001

I am happy that Trae showed up tonight ā€¦ the last game not being a one of is great.

  28. Professional_Yak7963

i do think for the hawks to get better longterm bc lets face it we are not winning a championship anytime soon just need to let AJG OO and JJ develop

  29. Snacktabulous

While JC sucked he was only -4 only played 25 mins. DJ was -16 he canā€™t guard Brown at all. Neither can Bogi of course. We got nothing for him.

  30. Most people in here are reasonable but anyone talking like the hawks are some massive disappointment is wild to me. Celtics beat the defending champs last year to go to the finals, have been great all year, and have frankly probably 3x the talent the hawks have. And the hawks still made it a game. Need to retool and let Snyder do his thing and the hawks should be a much better team next year.

  31. Iluraphale

We simply don’t have the ability to stop through defensively

  32. BigSlimSu

Outside of 1 game the Hawks have played well, weā€™re just getting out talented by the best team in the league thatā€™s all.

  33. Trill-buddy-mark

So dejounteā€™s probably going to be suspended

  34. RustyCorkscrew

Collins just makes me sad bro, his 2020 season seems like forever ago

  35. Saint_Diego

Getting real tired of having to watch entire broadcasts of ā€œoh it looks like Boston mightā€™ve gotten away with oneā€ and ā€œIā€™m not sure thatā€™s a foulā€ going the other way. Itā€™s not the reason weā€™re losing but itā€™s making it a lot more difficult to even get or stay within punching distance to have a chance. Tatum pushing a ref is a perfect example. Under no circumstance would a Hawk be able to do that and not get a tech and Trae would be sent to the locker room. We saw it happen this season when he passed a ball too hard to a ref lol

  36. jabiztownspaceagency

on the bright side trae really was him like 15 assists and 1 turnover is goated

really like what snyder’s done for the identity of the team esp with his emphasis on pace

  37. darkwingduck9

What is up with Collins bricking his 3s? He doesn’t look like a premier lob threat anymore either or it might be that Capela takes all those opportunities away but I don’t see why that would be the case when they have previously coexisted with better results. Hunter had a great game by his standards but I’m still nervous basically every time he touches the ball.

  38. DoctorTheWho

Fuck it, put Bey at SF and Hunter at the 4 and run n gun it.

  39. IslandHawksFan

Actually what happened to JC? Please tell me, what happened? Maybe he is better in transition? He def should be shooting less threes. Please give me some answers guys.

  40. GiveTraeYoungHelp

Trae is a good man for spoon feeding JC into that 125 Million dollar contract

  41. jslassh

Iā€™m not too mad about the loss per say. Boston hit really really really tough shits down the stretch. Tip the cap. What makes me upset is you have a guy in the team that makes $100 million on the court and doesnā€™t provide ANYTHING on the offensive end and is decent on defense. Thatā€™s not enough to put Atlanta over the hump. Also, people, including the fanbase talk so much shit about trae, when heā€™s damn near playing 2.5 on 5 basketball (Dre is too inconsistent). Trae continuously hits guys WIDE OPEN, and what do they do, brick it. Thatā€™s what really pisses me off. Man could easily average 20 assists if he had reliable shooters

  42. synergy2223

atleast we aren’t 1-3 to the knicks

  43. TheKing012

should have dropped JC when his trade value was still there…anyway, in the off season we need to work on getting pieces who can help with our defense. never going to stop being a mid team until that happens

  44. Your Atlanta Hawks lose a fairly entertaining game against the Boston Celtics 129-121.

This was one of Hunterā€™s best games of the season and it’s probably up there for one of the best in his career. He made a three with his first shot. With under 5 in the first Hunter had a floater that went in. With under 8 in the second he hit an open three. With under 7, he drove from the wing, and after a fake, he was able to draw a foul. With around 4 he got the pass in the corner from Trae, attacked the close-out, and stopped for a midrange make. A couple of possessions later, He had a nice dunk off a fast break that was created from a Clint block. Hunter was exquisite in the first half ending with 17 points, and 2 rebounds on 6/8 shooting including Ā¾ from three. We needed every point from him because we were still down by 12 at the half. With around 10 Murray found Hunter for a three. With around 8 he made one of the best passes of his career throwing a full-court pass to Trae on the break which resulted in a goaltend. With under 6 Capela bumped an offensive rebound to him seemingly by accident resulting in an open dunk. With around 5 he had an excellent double team coming off Tatum going to Brown. This resulted in a steal! With under 4, he got Brogdon to bite off a three-point fake. He took one dribble in and made the shot. He got his 25th point with a turnaround midrange on Sam Houser. Lastly Trae foul hit for a reverse layup. Unfortunately, in the 4th he went 0/3 including 2 misses from three. But I canā€™t blame him one bit because he contributed what he needed to contribute. It’s some of the other players who needed to step up. Dre ended with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block on 11/17 shooting including 3/6 from three. All this with only 1 turnover!! Defensively, this was his best game. He was active on the ball and was able to get some fairly good defense. Tatum had one of his more inefficient games shooting 8/20 (although he still got 31 points). The rebounding was excellent. 7 is great for Hunter. There isn’t much more I can ask for. A+!!! A massive leap from the Fs and Ds in this series. I want to see more 2-way play from him in the future.

Murray was fine. With around 4 minutes in the first quarter, he was able to get to the middle for a midrange and drew a foul. With around two minutes in the second, he had a very bad turnover, with the shot clock winding down dribbling it off his leg. At the half, he had 11 points and 4 rebounds. He had all of those 11 in the first quarter. He went 0/3 in the second quarter. With under 7 in the third, he hit a pull-up middy. With 4 he hit a pull-up three. After, he got a floater to go over Brogdon and Williams. He had a bad turnover with under three, trying to force something to happen falling down, and to allow Jalen Brown to take the ball. With 15 seconds he had a putback layup. With 3 seconds he hit a long-range three which unfortunately didn’t change the results. Murray ended with 23 points, 9 Rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block on 9/20 shooting and 4/8 from three. Again I wish he could get to the rim and put pressure on it. There were at least 8 midrange attempts which is a lot. Defensively, Jalen Brown was able to get to the rim at will. Out of his 22 shots, 4 were three-point attempts, about 5 were midrange and the rest were at the rim and were converted at an efficient clip. I think Murray gambled a lot instead of just staying in front of his defender. Turnovers were fine at 3. Solid B game from him.

Trae is beating the overrated allegations. With three minutes in the first Trae was able to get Robert Williams in the air and draw a foul. Unfortunately, he missed one free throw. With under 30 seconds, he was able to shake his defender and get a step back three. With under 6, he drove, drawing two defenders. He found Hunter who made the three! With 5 he got downhill getting a floater and the and-1. With around 2 he was able to draw a foul on Marcus Smart. Around the same time frame, he nearly got a steal from him. By half, Trae had 10 points and 9 assists on an awful 3/10 shooting. Free throw shooting during this period was iffy, making ā…—. This is a nearly 90% ft shooter. That said, the playmaking was excellent as usual. He got a lot of kick outs from drives. He was able to find Dre who was hot at this point. Towards the end of the second, he was scrambling on defense double teaming Brown/Tatum off Smart. To start the third he was able to get a block from a drive. He utilized his gravity finding Clint for a lob twice. He got called for a flagrant foul on Tatum but I think it was an awful call. It was a foul on his arm as he went up, preventing an easy dunk. On the next possession, he didn’t get an obvious foul on a drive. With about a minute in the third, he found OO of a wide-open layup. With under 10 in the fourth, he made a pull-up three. With around 5 he got two different floaters to go in. With two minutes he hit a three. He got a steal from Brogdon from inbound and made an easy layup. With 24 seconds left, he made a pull-up three. Trae ended with 35 points, 3 rebounds, 15 assists, and 2 steals on 11/26 shooting including 4/10 from three and 9/11 ft. He did all this with only 1 turnover!! That’s an absolute A+ in the playmaking category !! He showed up in the 4th scoring 21 points on a 6/11 shooting. The foul drawing was excellent. Defensively, I thought he gave some effort. I wish he was more efficient in the first three quarters but there isn’t much more I can ask for given the overall picture. A for Trae!

OO was meh. 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal on 2/4 shooting. With around 2 minutes in the first OO got a steal on Tatum from a bad spin move attempt. The next two possessions weren’t great including a missed shot and a travel call on a Marcus Smart post-up. To start the fourth OO had two offensive rebounds in the same possession. On the second he put it up and was able to get a foul call. On the next possession, he got another foul from a tip attempt off a Trae layup miss. He missed a free throw here. There were a couple of bad offensive fouls. One a moving screen the other a push-off on Brogdon. He ended with 5 fouls. Unfortunately, a lot werenā€™t great. Three turnovers are unacceptable given the amount of time he has the ball. He got completely outplayed by Williams who was excellent on the boards with 15 rebounds not to mention his 13 points. C- for OO.

Bogi ended with 8 points and 2 rebounds on ā…œ shooting including ā…– from three. With under two Bogi hit his first three. With under 3 minutes in the third, he had a nice contact layup over a couple of defenders. With under 30 seconds, he hit a long bomb from the wing. His night ended once he fouled out battling with Horford for a rebound with about 5 minutes in the fourth. Bogi had some good moments but in the end, he shot 37% shooting and fouled out. C-

Sucks we couldn’t win the series but that was never really the expectation. I am pretty happy with us. The Celtics are a contender with 0 injury issues. Honestly, they are probably the favorites right now. We were very close to willing this series to even but they are a strong team. With this game and us heading back to Boston, it’s probably over.
I wonder how we adjust the team in the offseason. I expect all of DJ, Trae, Bogi, Hunter, Bey back. JJ and AJ too. Although we could REALLY use better on-ball perimeter defense. A brogdon, smart, or white would be perfect… Hoping to add 1 guy like that in the off-season. Hunter really impressed me offensively this game. I was ready to give up on him too. If he can work on making his moves more efficient then he can be our version of Brown.

Our Frontcourt is where I expect some mix ups. Okwongwu, Capela, and JC. Our driving this game was so bad. It’s of course hard to drive when 1 of Capela or Okongwu is always in adn the spacing is shit. They are both so integral to our defense though with Okwongwu still on the rookie contract and Capela is arguably the best rebounder in the league. Not sure how you adjust this unless anyone has any ideas. Capela is the guy you’d want to keep probably but he is on the worse contract. idk what you do.

Collins though man… he looks so washed. What happened to the Collins from the ECF playoff run??? We need him back. I’d hate to sell low on him right now but idk what we can do. If he’s still dealing with foot and hand injuries just let him sit until he is actually fully recovered. Both his athletecism and shooting are gone. This version of him is almost 0 value. If he is never gonna get better then options are for him to keep working on his shooting to at least get that back or we have to .trade him I think
