Looks like former Rockets coach Stephen Silas is watching Celtics shootaround with Brad Stevens from Stevens’s perch above the court.

He had a great reputation as an assistant before the Rockets gig, where his job was to fail professionally.

Not that I want Silas specifically but we definitely need to replenish the assistant ranks this offseason after Mazzulla moved up and Stoudamire left

rockets did the man dirty. i wouldn’t mind him as an assistant for a couple years for him to try the head coach position again.

Can he be an assistant right away? Lmao

Somebody please help me out. Do we lack assistants?

  6. Does Brad Stevens third eye have a third eye? A few years ago Brad reached out to Silas during his first year with the Rockets. They didn’t know each other well but Brad wanted him to know that he went through the same thing during his first year with the Celtics and that he’d be there for him if he ever wanted to talk.

Yesterday the Rockets confirm that Udoka is the new coach and today Silas is having a chat with Brad.

That’s some Lion King full circle type shit. Also his dad Paul Silas was a Celtic who won 2 championships in 1974 and 1976. Hire this man, he bleeds green!

Yea he felt like one of those great coordinators in the NFL, who end up being bad head coaches. Though I still think he could be a good head coach in future, but he was a bad fit for us.

He didn’t bring any structure to our offense. Then he held certain players accountable (Sengun), but let other players off the hook (KPJ, Jalen). Jalen has a pretty good attitude on his own, but his defensive effort was low. KPJ is really pouty and gave up on plays, and Silas didn’t do anything about it. Sengun did improve his defense over time, but Silas strangely called him out after games/cut his minutes a lot. I do think upper management did mess with his lineups also.

But all in all, he was dealt a bad hand with Rockets. We were always bound to be at the bottom of standings with our roster/tank plan. He soured this final year and took it out on some guys, but toward the end of season, we actually were quite competitive. And it feels like the final push at end of year, guys respected him and were playing hard.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see atleast some turnover with assistants this offseason. Mazulla probably wants to bring in some of his own guys.

  9. i really like him. i think he has a really good heart

I met Silas at Dave Cowens basketball camp in the mid 90’s. Good guy. His father was a great player and great coach. Would be a nice addition

Get him and let the tampering begin

We can add him to the coaching staff basically right away right, there aren’t any restrictions? Besides whether or not brad wants to add him but I think he’d be a solid assistant for us

They need to snatch some coaches up right back to fill up the assistants, this is good

Oh man, he has a great reputation as an assistant coach before the Rockets HC debacle. When it was clear early this season that his tenure there was limited I was hoping the Celtics would reach out to him, but assumed that would be an off season conversation.
