I know he’s offensively been up and down, but this man IS OUR WHOLE Defense. Appreciation for the guy who’s doing all the dirty work through all the injuries!

His amount of blocks is INSANE, I don’t think people realize how crazy it is.

  2. Big AD in the building

The fact that we can trust him on defense every night is awesome

Give credit to Memphis’ defense for doing a good job of ball denial and forcing AD’s catches away from the basket. AD has gotten better making plays out of the post but I do think he tries to go too fast when he sees the double coming.

If he was a bit more confident in his face up jumper like he was in 2020 he could better punish the defenders before they send the double.

But as they say, Defense travels and Defense wins championships.

despite his offensive struggles, he’s probably the MVP of this series. his offensive struggles are probably due to a combination of 1) being defended by probably the best person you can put on AD 2) injury? 3) overworked on defense since we have no other bigs 4) innate inconsistency (he has shown some inconsistency)

While I would obviously love for him to be putting up atleast 20+ every game, his production on defense is much more valuable for this team.

We have 5 other guys who can all go for 15+ in any game. The scoring will come. His defense will win us the series.

  6. We need a good backup for him next year. I like the team we have right now and I really want to use our pick this year, but if we could swing Turner and Hield for Beasley, Bamba, and our 17th plus a second or two, I would do that in a heartbeat.

Still keep Rui, DLo, Reaves obviously.

    PG: DLo/.
    SG: Reaves/Hield/Christie.
    SF: Lebron/Vando
    PF: AD/Rui.
    C: Turner/.

Couple undrafted players and some vet Mins to round it out.

I am willing to forgive AD no scoring as much, because I know this guy locks it down for us on defense and defense is what wins games/championships. He must expend so much energy having to play both sides of the floor as hard as he does.

We can replace the lack of scoring from AD with the other guys on the team, but we 100% can not replace his defensive presence.

Not to excuse him from a horrendous offensive night, but this dude is our defense. He’s busting his ass out shutting down JJJ and Ja at the rim. There’s a reason AD is missing bunnies and FTs down the stretch. My man is battling out there defensively and gets tired. Not to mention the Grizz got some cheap shots out on AD. Still, AD even on an off night, needs to be scoring at least 20+.

The Grizz are also just doing a good job putting bodies on AD. It’s such a physical match up. Almost no one is shooting well this series except Austin and Rui. It’s a battle out there man. If it wasn’t for Ja and Brooks’ antics, I would be enjoying this Grizz team.

It blows my mind that gobert trade value is what it is when AD is better than him defensively and offensively it’s not even a discussion.

  10. EvenShaman

Sucks he is constantly getting doubled and tripled but it opens the floor for everyone else

  11. Lucieddreams

He was playing through that rib/hip injury too or whatever it was, you could tell he was in a lot of pain the whole night. Let’s go AD

  12. Ashamed-Choice-7946

Much respect to AD. He’s a beast.

And I know he is gonna take over some games in the future of these playoffs.

We got a lot of weapons so the rest of the NBA better be ready to stop it all.

  13. grxccccandice

Seriously dude is scary just standing there

  14. easy-eee

We find win last nights game wo AD defense.

  15. arcelios

LeBron was blocking shots and guarding the rim too.. And he’s also on the passing lanes every time.

When LeBron is being like that on defense like his younger self, the entire team plays great defense. AD gets hyped and feeds off of that energy. But AD really needs to dominate INSIDE on Offense, instead of settling for jumpshots. He was very poor offensively. That can’t happen

  16. superRedditer

he’s also setting all the screens and running back for the lobs etc

  17. CardiffGiant25

Quit making excuses for him, he’s Dwight Howard 2.0

  18. RandomCriss

Defensive player Anthony Davis is out wall.

  19. hungarianhc

I mean. It’s a nice appreciation post, but to say he’s “our whole” defense does indeed take away from what the others are doing…

    – Schroeder has been playing lockdown defense and poking the ball away pretty often.
    – Rui looks great on D as well.
    – LeBron had a couple killer steals and has been engaged.

    … and there’s more.

  20. Temporary-Mirror621

AD will always have my respect. He plays his ass off on defense and the glass. His offense will come on again.

That block at the end ended Ja’s career.
