We gonna hire Becky aren’t we? Lol

  2. Cheechers23

Yeahhh this is gonna be a long one. IIRC last time it took a while and this is gonna be longer. Only timeline Masai gave was they want a coach hired by the draft, that’s 2 months away

  3. N7Brendan

Listen if we got permission to speak with Becky Hammon she’s 100% the one i’m rooting for.

  4. kyle_993

I’d like Becky, Kenny or Stack even though he’s not mentioned by name in the article.

  5. EarthWarping

I have no idea who they’re going to pick as coach.

  6. ScotlandBarnes

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I really hope we’re not the first one’s to take a chance on Hammon just because the woke culture would adore it. I don’t see her as a fit for this team at ALL

  7. “The Raptors have gathered permission to interview several top assistant coaches to open up the process, including: Golden State’s Kenny Atkinson, Milwaukee’s Charles Lee, Phoenix’s Kevin Young, San Antonio’s Mitch Johnson, Sacramento’s Jordi Fernandez, Memphis’ Darko Rajakovic and Miami’s Chris Quinn, sources said”

Lots of interesting names here. Like the idea of an assistant on a good coaching staff, Chris quinn stands out to me from this group

First time hearing about half of these names, but glad we’re getting real reporting on the process now instead of the speculative “former Raptors assistant coach X, Y, Z”. Feels like we’re probably going the first time HC route, MLSE gotta save themselves some cash, still paying Nick.

Hammon, Quinn, or Atkinson. Any one of those 3 would be great

  11. Rare-Profile6867

Chris Quinn would be amazing. Has learned from Spo and Pat Riley and is only 39. Younger guys can relate to him more

  12. PewpyDewpdyPantz

Give me Kenny Atkinson or Frank Vogel.

Kenny made a scrap heap into a playoff team. Vogel is a strong defensive minded coach with a recent ring.

  13. LostPants7

Think Kenny would be good development wise

Who I’d want depends on the route the team goes down. For example if we run it back, then I really don’t care who the coach is. Nobody can make this roster win in it’s current state. If we get a new coach with fresh ideas, the roster needs a refresh to go along with that

  15. KinkyTOGuy91

I just don’t see us getting anyone good.

  16. SadOpportunity9825

Love Hammon, but it’s not going to materialize.

The chatter is that it’s gonna be Atkinson or Charles Lee and they’re trying to bring back Mermuys in some capacity. Dice Yoshimoto as well is on the extended staff wish list.

    They LOVE Charles Lee.

  17. The_Living_L

Atkinson, the vibes on that nets team with DLO were fire

  18. Green-Umpire2297

I think they will promote Mutombo. They will go through this process to conduct diligence on every other candidate they like.

Not playing into the whole leftist politics, I just don’t think we’re at the place to hire the first woman nba head coach. We already had a lot of locker room instability and being the first NBA franchise to hire a women head coach might bring more issues. I’d prefer my team not to be a PR circus show. Just my two cents.

  20. I hear Malachi likes the intangibles Becky can bring to the table.

  21. Lewro29

So this list is all current assistant that they need permission to talk to? Is it possible there are candidates that don’t need this permission? Like NCAA, international and unemployed.

  22. Pretend_Highway_5360

Whomever it is I hope it’s a BIPOC

  23. Etobocoke

So they don’t have a coach? I thought someone said they had one all lined up, that there would be no way they would fire nurse without a plan.

I think the guys running the shop have too many things on the go because they are not prepared.

  24. heavyrain5

I really want them to interview someone like Phil Handy, loads of experience in player development, won multiple championships as an AC, including ours. And lots of players respect him. Can be good for the FA pool in the years to come.
