  1. He would be absolutely perfect culture-wise (and obviously as a player at MVP calibre) but this makes our odds of landing Wemby compared to getting Giannis look like the 2018 Warriors vs Cavs finals

My worry is that the Spurs will be expected to pay these young players who are getting more minutes than they would on a contender, and then that will eat at the cap space we have to sign a star. If the Spurs get Wemby, they should start chasing a star while Wemby is on that rookie contract, so they can go over the cap limit to extend them both. That doesn't mean they will be contenders right away, but it does give us a direction other than throwing the season, developing players, and losing them to teams willing to overpay.
