Heā€™d be a step closer to Robert Horry-level greatness

  2. corybekem

Puts him one away from the ghost he chasing. Iā€™m sure he wants to finish his career with 6

  3. WayneOnABeat

Continue to state why he is the šŸ

  4. hotelmotelshit

Not much else than to cement he is the goat in terms of longevity – but I think he already did that with the scoring record

  5. YoungBasedHooper

He’d be the GOAT. He already is, but this would make it indisputable.

  6. dvon1097

Not much he’s already the greatest to ever do it

  7. Potential-Host-6281

Lakers gets 18th championship – the most in the NBA. Currently tied with Boston at 17.

EDIT: He’d definitely be a “Laker Great” for that, if not already.

  8. YoursTruly_Flounder

If anything it would just elevate his legacy as a Laker and help his case to get his number up on the rafters.

But in reality heā€™s already top 2 all time (I personally think heā€™s the GOAT) so that wonā€™t change.

  9. National_Secret_5525

Probably solidifies him as the GOAT, honestly. I think there’s a great case that he’s already the GOAT, but that would make it pretty hard to argue.

I mean a 7th seed champion? Has that ever even been done?

  10. 5 chips for Lebron and 18 before the Celtics….yeah, I’d be cool with it.

LeBron is what, 3rd all time at worst? Ring number 5 (with this broken team) would be the greatest comeback in NBA history. Undisputed GOAT. Ring 6 would just be creating more distance.

    1. Most points scored

    2. 4th in assists

    3. 5 rings across 3 franchises. Putting up historic numbers in season 20

  12. GlassOnion25

For real tho another ring would justify a jersey retirement. All time in my opinion it solidifies him as the goat without question if heā€™s the driving force and balls out in the finals. I think he already is but he would be 5 rings 5 fmvps. Sure itā€™s not 6-0 but 5 with all time scoring record would be insane

  13. Vexing_Pie

Even if he made the finals and lost, it would still be crazy good for legacy. The gap between his first (2007) and possible last (2023) would be 16 years. In that span of time, whole AllStar/HOF careers have occurred (Blake Griffin, Joakim, Marc Gasol)

  14. Adventurous_Endeavor

In terms of overall status, I say heā€™s the GOAT with a 5th this season. Just incredible if he pulls this off.

In terms of all time Lakers, Iā€™d put him 5th
    1) Kobe
    2) Magic
    3) Kareem
    4) Shaq
    5) Lebron

Iā€™m willing to admit that basketball is 60/40 split between MJ and LeBron being the goat, and I think both sides are intransigent.

I think number 2 in LA makes his Jersey retired here though.

  16. justaskinthequestion

I don’t personally think he needs to do anything else to build his case as best ever. As far as his legacy with the Lakers, it’s worth something. I mean, it’s kind of crazy to him having more seasons as a Laker than he was on the Heat. It doesn’t seem like that long. Second ring and five years should get him his jersey retired, I think.

So, in a way, to have three different teams retire your jersey would sort of insane.

  17. DrenchEm3x

He already the GOAT but if he get another one in year 20 it shouldnā€™t even be a argument anymore

  18. BomberGutzel

I think the better question is… what does 2 rings do for AD? Does it justify a jersey retirement (a la Pau Gasol) – and if not, what would?

  19. SneakerPxmp

Nothing, heā€™s already cemented as my GOAT. Jordan won 3 rings vs a washed Jazz and the SuperSonics. In my eyes he only has 3 rings

Thatā€™s the logic they use against Lebron so fuck it, Iā€™m fighting fire with fire šŸ˜‚

  20. shteverhim

If he gets us #18 he’s my undisputed GOAT

  21. crunchyfrogs

I already think heā€™s the goat so no difference to me
