Never seen a big guy like that with such good change of direction and ability to get around screens

  2. Apart-Bad-5446

That’s how you guard Steph. Don’t even look at the ball or who has it. Just stick to Steph or Klay. The rest of the players, you can live with taking shots. Trap Steph, deny him the ball, and what do the Warriors honestly do then? Their entire system shuts down and they resort to a Wiggins ISO or Poole jacking up a shot.

  3. I love this kid

And he’s only 23, he’ll only get better

  4. mydixxierectx2

It’s like you have to deal with him on the perimeter then AD in the paint literally a cheat code defensively

  5. lakeshow_glasgow

Going to be difficult to keep him at a reasonable price next year when he’s …*checks notes*… team option $5m for next season

  6. Mocha22_

Y’all already know they’re going to call 2 quick fouls on him tomorrow.

  7. Relevant-Goose-3494

That block on looney had me hype. He spiked the shit out of it. Like ad blocking that awkward back up big for grizzlies last series

  8. hellohellohello18199

So hyped to have him on the team. What type of contract can we offer him next year after the team option?

  9. The awareness on that first steal is insane. Was at the game last night and it was a joy to just watch his defense and screen navigation. I was the only person with a Vanderbilt jersey last night in the arena as far as I could tell 😂

What a defensive weapon. Fckin love this kid so tenacious yet so disciplined it’s like he’s playing from another era very contrasted with today’s very offensive minded young players.

  11. saraza1270

I like the fact that he can use all of his energy on defending Curry is plus not worrying about his offense game.

  12. streetlaur

I fucking love Vando . He’s special and we are lucky to have him

  13. SophisticamatedApe

Lol people been calling him trash and unplayable whenever lakers lose and this guy scores only 3 pts. Make up your mind.

  14. TheLooza

Unreal. Is that some of the best defense ever played on Curry?

  15. kwagmire9764

Curry likes to shoot with the screener to his right, hopefully they take away that side next game.

  16. Jscott1423

That block on looney had me feeling reallll good about Lakers defensive tempo

  17. LudwigNasche

Amazing when we think about how much talent Pelinka was able to bring at the trade deadline. If at any point Beasley finds his shot he is another piece to add to the collection of Rui, Vando and Dlo.

  18. SagalaUso

Seeing it like that is crazy how he stuck to him like glue.
If he can keep this up for the series it’ll go a long way to winning it.

I don’t think he can do it for seven games so we better close it out in four lol.

  19. dredaplc

Steph might have the best conditioning in the league but Vando didn’t get the nickname “V8” for no reason. He’s an absolute workhorse and thrives in these kind of matchups.

  20. Nopementator

Every contender needs guys like Vando. He doesn’t care about taking his shots or scoring.

He plays defense all around, get rebounds, contest shots, ruins a lot of passes and he never stops. He can switch on everyone and it seems that he just loves play defense. How rare it is in modern NBA finding a young defensive specialist?

This video Thinking Basketball channel made about him is great:

  21. yyungpiss

this is exhibit A in how to play perimeter defense, the effort is insane but it’s also not getting infatuated with the ball. knowing how to get around screens and having a sense of what curry is gunna do next and just chasing his ass. amazing.

  22. iKnockout

My guy put all this seasons frustration into that last block

  23. thedonjefron69

Dudes always moving and challenging his assignment, and is fucking seamless when he needs to switch. His anticipation is amazing and doing stuff like throwing up a hand to force a pass by curry as he goes to the rim only to see it coming and deflect it is *chefs kiss*

  24. thedonjefron69

He’s only going to get better through the series as he picks up curry’s habits

  25. You can tell the difference too because when he wasn’t on the floor, Steph was heating up

  26. Watching Vando lock down on defense is straight poetry in motion. My man’s making ASMR out of defense. Shit is insane.

  27. pieboy89

I’ve never seen any one guard curry so effectively let alone a big man

  28. Bro… I’m getting gassed just watching that shit over and over.

  29. IntestinalEndorphins

Him and Rui are very different but each exceptional in their roles. We can deploy either one to pair with our top 4 guys and be elite in different ways. It’s nuts how we are legitimately an elite team right with Denver, Boston, Phoenix, Sixers

  30. TorontoRaptors34

Vando is one of those players who shouldn’t have sex before games like Pat Bev said when describing himself.

  31. TorontoRaptors34

Vando is the real Caruso replacement not Reaves. Reaves is a totally different player. Imagine Caruso and Vando together tho
