this was a fluke. sixers are the best 3p shooting team in the league and they couldnāt make shit. celtics role players went absolutely fucking nuts. credit to them. they stepped up in a must win game. weāre winning this series
Might be blissful ignorance, but shake it off and move on. Series is tied heading back to Philly.
ouch oof my bones
Embiid was very rusty and it’s obvious we weren’t going to win this game even if he didn’t play. But better to get the rust out of the way so he can be ready for Game 3.

No heart. We cut it to five right before the half. Then they got it back to 8 or whatever it was. And then that was it. We just didnāt show up to play in the second half.
And to be honest, this should have been entirely predictable. Like Iām actually ashamed of myself that I hadnāt mentally prepared for this before hand. Because of course this is what was gonna happen.
We win the best game ever on Monday. Jo gets MVP on Tuesday. We lose the worst game ever on Wednesday. Very Sixers.
But a split on the road is good. We still only have to win home games from here out and we got this.
R/nba praying on our downfall, wonder what the excuses will be when sixers win in 5
On to the next one. We did what we needed to. Would have been nice to make them sweat but they were on fire. Niang should not play. Iād like some Reed at the 4, and more big line ups in general. Maxey might have a few minutes squeezed but we need more rebounding and defense. Embiid-Reed-Harris-Melton-Harden is interesting, switchable with enough shooting to get by offensively.
We won by 4, they won by idfk how much. Itās 1-1 regardless. Itās not about point differential, itās game differential. Sixers in 6, we punched them in the mouth to start the series without our MVP and now we are going home for home court advantage. TTP FTC LETS GO SIXERS
Did Joel say how his knee was feeling after the game?
As long as this was just a tune up and I donāt hear that Embiid aggravated his injury, Iāll live with it. We were never going to win both in Boston and they made a lot of contested shots while we missed a lot of open ones. Still think weāre in position to win this series
Harden was 2-14 they should have sat him, so goes the logic of some of the people on the board. Rather Joel get the rust off while up 1-0 instead of a must win game 3 when it is 1-1. Not to mention that Embiid wasn’t bad tonight.
What makes this game leave a rightfully bad taste in my mouth is that even the Hawks didnāt lose by this much against the Celtics and it also happened with the MVP in the lineup
They need to figure out how to beat this team with Embiid, healthy or not
I just hope Game 1 wasnāt our 22 WS Game 1, 01 Finals Game 1 moment.
What concerns me is the completely predictable Harden turd performance tonight. You could see that coming from a mile away. His body just canāt handle it consistently anymore.
Either go full 8 man with Reed/Melton/McDaniels or give Niang’s minutes to House.
While I’m not thrilled with playing Danuel House in a playoff series, at least he doesn’t fucking waddle on the court.
The sixers just looked content going back to Philly tied 1-1. They were hoping to nab a game and jobs done. Once it was obvious it isn’t their night tonight they threw in the towel and got ready for Game 3. This was not the worst intro of Embiid back into the game. Point differential only matters to the media.
Just win every home game from here on and we win the chip
Not gonna win when you shoot 21 less than 3’s and make 14 less overall. 20% from 3, and giving them so many quality looks. I know 2 rim outs happened to Harden, almost felt a little unlucky at times. But you can’t be giving up that many good looks. Rim protection was so much better tonight but that is not important when they keep finding open shooters when they stop their drives.
I don’t think we’re gonna shoot that badly again, but god damn that was just ugly. Niang being on the court makes me unreasonably angry. When he passed up a 3 to run into a contested mid range and get blocked I almost lost my mind.
I really donāt get the notion that running the offense through Joel was the problem. I saw some good ball denial by Boston, and I saw Joel still managing some opportunistic attempts when he was fed (4 for 9 with 8 FTA).
And how does Embiidās presence have anything to do with Hardenās step-back threes not dropping tonight? Those looks canāt be seen as the good kind of aggressiveness when they go down but given the dreaded āstagnant offenseā label when they donāt.
The real takeaway beyond trying to pin this on one player: three points are worth more than two. So on offense we canāt pass up good looks to try to āblow byā a close out defender to nowhere. And on defense we canāt sell out entirely to protect the rim and allow easy kick outs.
Itās alright we just went a little too hard at embiids mvp party and were hungover as fuck weāll smash āem next 3
How do we replicate our entire gameplan last game and do it next game with embiid
Iāll post it here like everywhere else. If Harden making a move is a flagrant 2 and ejection for catching a man in the nuts okay. Tatum swung at a guys head and didnāt get a flagrant 1 with intent.
Flushed it and Iām ready for Wells Fargo to be a torture chamber for the next two games
tbh not to concerned about this game. our entire team played like shit. hard to take anything meaningful from it.
only real take away is that niang needs to be out of the rotation for this series
JT scored 7 points over 18 min and you lost by 30 ā¦..
shake it off and onto the next one. we were due for a stinker
Think the clear thing to take from this game is Vegas strip clubs are better than Boston ones
Y’all can downvote me but the sixers are better off against Boston without Embiid. The Celtics openly admitted all they have to do is contain the role players and let Embiid score as much as he wants. When the Sixers play their stationary offense with him on the floor the Celtics can more than easily defend the outside. In game 1 they were aggressive they moved the ball they wouldn’t let the Celtics defend role players and we saw so much production from Maxey Tobias and crew. Shitty FG% is the reason we lost by that margin. I get it. It’s game 2 after a “shocker” game 1 but to me game 1 wasn’t a shocker and all the analysts don’t know what they are talking about, leaving out the fact of our TEAM effort and shared scoring.
I’d rather watch this whole series without Jo because I’ve already watched this series with him it’s like a broken record.
Eh. On to the next one
Carl Saganās Pale Blue Dot speech. You canāt see the NBA or the Sixers out here in space. Just a spec floating in the void.
Fuck the Celtics. We took one in Boston; mission accomplished.
Sixers couldnāt buy a bucket and Celtics hit everything. 1-1 was always the goal going back home. Gotta win Friday or theyāre in trouble though.
I don’t see Harden having that bad of a shooting night next game. I also don’t see the C’s shooting that well next game.
Everyone is reading too much into this loss. The same way it was a trap game for Boston is the same reason why it was a trap game for us.
Losing my that much was extra shit but we shot terribly from 3.
You donāt win games when your opponent has +42 point differential from three.
How do we play worse with Embiid in?…..
I agree with Barkley. We should have rested Embiid because we were not going to win this game.
Let’s not kid ourselves. The talk all year was the Bucks and the Celtics. Occasionally people would throw in the Sixers out of respect for our regular season record. The Celtics are not afraid of us and we have not proven them wrong yet.
We are in a Jordan v Pistons situation.
It’s just an L. Doesn’t matter if we lost by 4 or 34. Shake it off and move on.
First loss of the postseason
The Sixers weren’t winning this game with or without Embiid. It was a warm-up game for Embiid to get his rhythm back.
Ironically Embiid being such a good rim protector forces the Celtics to shoot more 3s, and if theyāre hot from 3ā¦we see what happens.
I obviously would rather have Embiid playing but this series (and most NBA games nowadays) will come down to whoās hotter from 3
We shot poorly. They shot great. Nothing to be done about it.
Canāt wait until next game when embiid finally comes back from injury
back to reality ![img](emote|t5_2scmr|5862)
just ugly game. i can’t believe niang is getting rotation minutes in round 2 of the god damned playoffs.
Looks like Sixers are better without the āMVPāā¦ #NotMyMVP
We should have Jo play the role of Tucker in zone defense in the last game. Tucker cannot play if heās not shooting open 3s.
Everyone was off tonight, but after Harden’s fantastic performance 2 nights ago, he put up a shooting disaster class tonight. 2-14 and 0-6. He put up 4 points on 20 shots and had the most minutes of all the Sixers.
Getting a lot of āBench McNabb, start Feeley. A.J Feeley is better suited to run the offense than McNabbā vibes in here. Letās not kid ourselves. Joelās the best player in the league and we go as far as he takes us.
The team just came out flat and uninspired tonight. Probably still sniffing themselves after snatching game 1. Thatās on Doc. I trust that heāll get it right for game 3.
