Very interesting. It seems like organizations are saying it is really about the players they have. Otherwise to get rid of a coach who has the knowledge and experience of getting you a title in the last 4 years is insane.
The Raptors don’t have a new coach yet. Lakers got Ham (first HC job). Bucks obviously don’t have a new coach yet. But without an obvious, experienced, waiting-in-the-wings experience coach that the current one is dumped for, it seems that it’s less about being an experienced coach and more about getting a new coach. But it’ll be interesting to see what the Raptors and Bucks do. Already some speculation Nurse could go to the Bucks. Lets see what happens. If our new GM whoever they are, wants a new coach, I hope we pull from folks who haven’t been a head coach yet and have the fire and drive to come in with a unique perspective and reshape the Wizards.
outside of extreme exceptions (Pop, Spo, Kerr) the job really tops out at a 4 or 5 year gig. On a long enough timeline guys just get tuned out by players.
