Homie, this is awful for our defense. Like terrible. Moving Hunter to the 4 means that we lose our (currently) best perimeter defender as he will be out of position, undersized, and required to help. Even if Harris/O’Neal did a better job than Hunter at the 3, Hunter can’t even come close to doing what JC does at the 4.
Also, we will give up non-stop offensive rebounds, and while JC isn’t good on offense these days, Hunter will not be able to provide what he brings in screening/posting up. Better spacing for sure, but it comes out fairly even on that side while being a big downgrade in defense and rebounding.

I keep seeing people say to play hunter at the 4 like rebounding will suffer no semblance of the picks that JC sets and if he can find his shot more in the range of the end of the season then he shoots as good as hunter. There’s other reasons as well but Joe Harris is worse at defense than anyone on the team we have already. I say give Quin some time to see where he wants to go. And maybe give korver more time with JC and then if they still feel like they want to trade him at least he will have regained some of his trade value because literally every one of these trades have the Hawks losing in my opinion just to get rid of JC. By the way JC’s interior defense and help defense are being under appreciated and they’re not exactly hunter’s strengths either.
