Jaylen Brown on the decision to double: “Just a bad read. That’s it. It’s a gamble at the wrong time. Big shot by James Harden but that’s my fault. I take full accountability.”

like the accountability but please don’t do it again for Christ’s sake. I’m sorry, I’m literally fuming still.
I’m sick of these post game comments. Just stop making monumental errors. You’re a veteran now. Make the right read and do your job. If he hits the shot in ur face, so be it.
Good on JB. Defensive breakdown from his end.
JB missed the class where they taught that 3 is a bigger number than 2
Tuesday cannot get here soon enough. Want to beat these mfs so bad.
Yep. It happens. Even seasoned professionals can make a wrong split-second decision, that’s just being human. Sucks, but hey, what can you do. He didn’t do much else wrong in this game and was the reason we were even in it to begin with.
It wasn’t that bad because Embiid was bullying Tatum and he was going to get an easy score on him to tie it.
This is kind of in the Jakobi Meyers zone of “it’s cool he’s taking accountability, not much more you can really ask for I suppose and i dont want to pile on a guy who puts in the work at a low moment… but come on what the fuck man”
seems like coaching should sort of play a role insofar as saying, hey — don’t double and stay on the guy who can’t miss idk
Wish others players would own up to their worse mistakes
Yeah, JB fumbled the defense and JT took too long to set a play. These two are our stars, we can only hope that they’ll learn from this
Sometimes gambles work. It didn’t when we needed it to. I’m still not mad at the decision as much as I’m mad that it didn’t work.
We are literally at the point where someone is going to have to baby coach Tatum and Brown at the end of these close games and just yell at them DONT DOUBLE and DONT SLOW THE GAME DOWN.
Ten millionth “I take responsibility and I’ll be better” example this season and nothing will fucking change.
The problem is why are you even gambling? You’re literally gambling the result of the game when you do that when there’s no need to. Embiid hits a tough layup then we’re tied with the last possession. You couldn’t ask for a better position to be in and you’re gambling?!
I’ll forgive him when we win the series
JB still makes mental mistakes and honestly it’s enough of it. He’s way too far along in his career to commit these one play meltdowns. I love him 90% of the time, and he has (up to this point) fixed the the ball handling turnovers, but man.. seems he fucks up something really elementary in the most inopportune times.
It was so fucking dumb but this also has Mazzulla’s fingerprints on it, I’m sorry. In that huddle the coach needs to be emphasizing that you can’t give up a 3 here. A 2 is fine and you can win the game last shot.
You never help strong side. That’s like day 1 shit, nevermind leaving their best shooter wide open. It’s worse than a bad read. It’s a total lack of basketball IQ.
Come out and give ‘em 50 next game to show how sorry you are. And like 10 hail Mary’s or something.
Never help off the strong side corner
Never help off the strong side corner
Never help off the strong side corner
Never help off the strong side corner
Never help off the strong side corner
Never help off the strong side corner
Never help off the strong side corner
Never help off the strong side corner
Embiid is healing every game. What don’t these guys get. That volcano is closer everyday.
Ya he owns up to it (unlike Joe who won’t admit his mistake not calling a timeout) but we’re past the “my bad” part of the season. This is inexcusable. There was no reason for him to double.
That was a gamble that made absolutely no sense. A 2-pointer would not have beaten them and there was time on the clock to go for a win if Embiid missed.
I thought he still closed out pretty well. He had to help, Embiid was about to swallow JT. Harden was just special tonight
