Ben Wallace on why Carmelo Anthony wouldnt have worked out for the Pistons #detroitpistons #nba

  1. Coulda put melo at the 4 since there was no sheed and he coulda filled that role nicely

  2. That's why they only won one with that squad versus building a dynasty that could've been, with Carmelo and that squad.. if Ben Wallace could shoot a free-throw and had a jump shot they would've won more..

  3. Completely agree. Pistons won in 2004 by having a team that was greater as a whole than its individual parts. Carmelo would have destabilised that and ruined the balance of the team.

  4. You are not playing I on Playstation. You just can add players that will not mesh.

  5. I like Ben but he’s wrong. No, he’s right from the point of view of a team with short term goals that relies on a short rotation and wears out their starters, but he’s wrong in any other case. Tashawn had already established himself as a force before that draft when the Pistons went to the Eastern conference finals and lost to New Jersey, so only a lousy coach would’ve botched the opportunity to capitalize on both the skills of Carmelo and Tayshaun. To say that there wasn’t enough minutes or opportunities for Carmelo and Tayshaun to shine is why this team won one championship, lost Memo and not only drafted Darco but also didn’t give him any playing time. I’m sorry Ben but your concept is what the team actually did and proved only to be short term success.

  6. Ben Wallace is right . Also Melo was NEVER mistaken for a defensive player. That Pistons team as constructed, was a tenacious and determined to lock you down defensively. Melo was a great talent offensively but Larry Brown demanded DEFENSE.

  7. That's cap, Ben!

Tayshaun came out party was in that Orlando Magic series when Rick Carlisle finally decided to put him against Tmac.

So he already blossomed before the 03 draft.

Larry Brown would've probably been a bad fit for Carmelo, seeing how Larry Sabotage Darko's career and Darko's game flourish when he was with the Magic.

Larry Brown puts rookies in the doghouse!

He's a horrible coach for Rookies.

  8. I disagree.. Melo would've been that offensive spark that the 2005 Pistons needed since they had lost alot of their bench scoring when they lost Okur, Mike James, and Corliss Williamson.

  9. I disagree strongly!! Larry Brown even said it out of his mouth that they would’ve won with Melo and Melo even said out of his mouth that he would’ve learn to play the right way! He’s the only Piston that thinks that they wouldn’t of won! Smh 🤦🏿‍♂️

  10. LOL. Melo (great player) woulda wanted to play, and woulda disrupted the team chemistry so our best bet was to blow the 2nd overall pick of a stacked draft on the 1 bum who couldn't play??

Regardless of Melo, we still get Sheed because we still have the extra pick and Portland was blowing up the team. We win 04 and 05 finals and DEF wouldn't have lost to that 06 Miami Heat team. Some of ya'll trippin

  11. I think it would’ve worked if they had him shoot 12-15 times a game all that 20 plus attempts on low 40% would’ve definitely disrupted the chemistry.

  12. Ben you are Totally Wrong!!!! If you drafted Melo, you would of repeated!!!! And possible 3
