Yeah it’s wild that Rudy didn’t get a single vote. Like I get the cloud of the trade, but he’s still largely why the Wolves are a top 10 defense (top 8 on [cleaning the glass](https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/league/summary?season=2022&seasontype=regseason&start=10/1/2022&end=04/9/2023) which filters heave possessions and garbage time) and even if he’s not his peak, he’s still a top rebounder and rim protector. Even Pat Bev was like “say what you want, but Rudy is a top defensive player and should be on an all defensive team”.
Gobert was first team and DPOY candidate for ***6 straight years*** before this year. It’s not like his defense just disappeared in a few months. Narratives have a huge impact wow
edit: btw I’m not saying he should have made it over other centers, but not a single vote is wild and shows how powerful narratives are.

We had a top 10 defense because of Jaden. He was the one who got snubbed. Gobert did not have an All-defensive level season this year lol. This has nothing to do with him being on the timberwolves
GetThereInOnePiece
he didnt deserve it over any of the centers who did

Separate from the Gobert conversation, but man did offenses jump this season. Top 10 defenses across the board are 2-3 points higher.
Made sense that it never felt like the Wolves’ defense was great. 1st in Defensive Rating this year would have been 9th last year.

The voters absolutely got it right when it comes to 1st/2nd team Centers

Gobert had poor perimeter to average at best defenders across the board in Utah. He had an elite perimeter defender in McDaniels and a very good one in ant in Minny. Situation was totally different. Eye test- he fell off

Walker Kessler receiving a vote when Rudy didn’t is a wonderful gut punch.
