We all assume we know how Steph must feel.

The majority of organizational decisions made post-2019 has been about building a second timeline because Joe Lacob is terrified of 20 win teams that nobody cares about post-Curry. The organization has nothing to show for all of the second timeline focused moves, a team led by Poole and Kuminga is not winning more than 20 games.

  3. JuanLeon11

They do have the right pieces. They’re just broken right now. Tape them up or crazy glue them or smack them upside the head, whatever works.

  4. Free_Plum_007

If Steph wants to win then he’s gotta be willing to let one of the big contracts go.

Also MT is always hating on the FO. This dummy was clowning on them for not keeping Avery Bradley last year. Let’s not forget he wanted Wiggins gone for Ben Simmons or Bradley Beal.

  5. spankyourkopita

All our fears confirmed. We didn’t do enough to give Steph the best opportunity to win. Marcus is right that you can see the opportunity is there to win a title. Outside of the Nuggets no team left scares me.

I swear it’s like every game is memory holed after it happens unless it’s a game without a happy ending and then it’s the only thing that’s remembered. The team that won that Kings series can win a championship. The team that played in Game 2 in this series? Can win a championship. The pieces are very much there, it’s just about making them fit properly and at the right time, which IS POSSIBLE! Guaranteed? Of course not. But for damn sure possible.

  7. Coronabandkaro

LeBron got to entirely retool his team to ensure they win a chip. I dont think Steph ever demanded that. He deserves to have proven guys who come through in the playoffs. What i hate more about possibly losing this series is the unfair knock on Steph’s legacy vis-a-vis LeBron.

  8. Saturday514

They got the pieces. They just underperforming beside Curry right now.

  9. blakeley

What do you mean? Dubs have Rollins and Iggy, what more do you need?

  10. loongod5

It just feels honestly like the championship is running through the West this year. Just comes down to whether it’ll be the Nuggets, Lakers, or us.

Steph has a right to be fully upset. Absolutely no one besides him has consistently shown up this series.

Not Klay, not Wiggins, not Poole, not Donte, Looney isn’t really a factor this series, JMG had his one good game, GPII has been sick all series.

All the guys mentioned above need to find it in them to shift their effort level and shot making into an extra gear or two. It’s so sad seeing Steph perform so great only to be down 3-1. Klay out of everyone needs to step up right now. $43 million and all we got from him the last two games was 8/24 FG.

  11. Dannym7x

We have 3 players who are completely unplayable (pbj, rollins, iggy,) and 5 (moody, jmg, ddv, kuminga, lamb) who are not high level playoff players. That puts a lot of pressure on the core 7, where they need to be incredible to win any series.

Compare that to the nuggets, lakers or Boston and we are paper thin. This isn’t a win now roster. Last year stephs greatness carried us.

  12. Mmicb0b

we literally just need a reliable second option

  13. monteasf

Pretty sure Jordan Pooles growth was gone after Draymond punched his head off. This offense is predicated on trust and knowing where your guys are gonna be, which is hard to do once you’ve been flat lined by a teammate.

And now nobody can hold him accountable after that, and we get this sloppy undisciplined ball chucking Poole

  14. s1lence_d0good

The biggest problem I see in this roster is that Looney/Draymond can’t make simple shots inside the paint and Klay Thompson doesn’t play the defense necessary to get a 40 million contract.

  15. giraffesbluntz

The youth scapegoating just won’t end. You want help? How about your $42M shooting guard and $33M SF step up to the plate.

We lost in the last two minutes of game 4 because Klay and Steph took ridiculous shots and Dray made a ridiculous pass.

  16. McJumbos

Minus otto porter, aren’t they essentially using the same roster they just won the chip with?

  17. dolphingarden

All these two timeline dogshit players doing nothing

  18. The statement contradicted itself. If U don’t have the pieces, U don’t have a path to win.

Every non-contenting team miss a couple pieces necessary to win a championship.

  19. Material-Plantain245

problem is they have the pieces! players just aren’t showing up

  20. sf_warriors

Stfu marcus, we have enough to win it

It ain’t over till it’s over.

We need 30+ from Steph (and 10+ assists w/ 2-3 TO)

We need 20+ from Klay (on >35% shooting), and holding Reaves to <15.

We need 10+ from Poole (on >33% shooting) off the bench, and non-hacking defensive effort.

We need 20+ from Wiggins (on >35% shooting), 8+ RB, and holding LeBron to <22 (or 40% shooting at the least).

We need 10+ RB, 10+ assists, and holding AD to <30 from Draymond (together with Looney and JMG).

We need GP2 and Moody to lock down Schroder, Walker, and Hachimura, hit their open 3s (same for JMG).

We need to push the ball in transition before AD gets down the floor and wear him out.

We need to keep them out of the bonus so they can’t get a breather, no hand checks, just contest and limit the offensive rebounds.

We can do this. I’m tired of hearing that we don’t have the pieces. We just need to put together an average game from everybody. If we play as a team, we can win 3 straight. If we discombobulate, hack, turn the ball over needlessly, and fail to convert those offensive rebounds into points, we’ll lose tonight. It has to be polished, but it’s within reach.

    LET’S GO WARRIORS!!!

We developed Jerome and Lamb instead of Moody and Kuminga, Poole regressed horribly and just don’t have enough firepower. We can blame Wiseman for not fitting but he’s no longer on the team. Last year was a magical run, this year was frustrating. I am looking forward to a Nuggets Heat final 🙂

  24. envisionJayy

Blame Joe Lightyears Lacob. He wanted the future, he got it, now they suck 😂

  25. CriticalPrimary3

Steph isnt the type of player gets upset at his teammates or blames the front office imo. Sure he doesn’t like to lose but he isnt going to go in and demand them to trade for more help. He’s gonna go in and put in the work with his teammates and try to figure it out

  26. The sanctimonious homers here will never admit it because they worship Lacob more than they like anyone else on the team but two timelines was always bullshit. You can’t fully believe in Curry and fully commit to trying to win titles while making moves for the future now. You have to give some picks and young players to retool the bench and improve around the margins. Look at how much of a fucking difference Lakers trades are making. We didn’t need a big move, we just a needed a couple bench players. Think about all the players who moved at the deadline for cheap. Players that this sub love to turn their noses up at while also pretending “there’s no trades they could’ve made!!”. You guys will never be able to admit that they would have been better off if they just focused on one direction and put their best effort into that instead of this half assed two timelines. Have you noticed they eventually moved off it anyway? It was never going to work. Got so much shit for saying it here but I’ll keep saying. It’s highly disrespectful to Curry to not focus on trying to win because you want to prioritize young prospects. Why the fuck are we hoarding picks and young players like we are a rebuilding team?

  27. SoFloFoSho

Alot of fans agree with this but I don’t. There is this premise about Steph that he’d feel upset that the front office didn’t do enough. I think he’d be more upset about what the individual players didn’t do to be all about winning.

  28. This_Cable_5849

I’m sorry. Marcus, you do good work. But this is the dumbest quote ever. You could fill in Steph Curry with ever top player who isn’t in the playoffs currently.

    No shit.

  29. Mygaffer

    The front office fucked it.

Should have brought back GPII and Otto, despite him not playing this season, and moved Wiseman in the off season.

They would have got more for Wiseman and probably got a slightly better deal on GPII and likely could have still signed Donte, who has been a little underwhelming in these playoffs anyway.

JMG has basically been a big zero and frankly it’s not a good thing that out of all the young players, including “foundational” Jordan Poole it is 14th pick Moses Moody who is giving the best post season minutes.

Ownership and maybe front office was high on their own supply to start thinking about the *next* dynasty when they aren’t done with this one.

Because history says there won’t be a next dynasty.

  30. Accomplished-Pea-706

Didn’t ya’ll win the chip last year?

  31. vote_pedro

    This narrative is crazy.

Steph literally has 6 of the most important players from last season’s title run. Only OPJ you could really argue is sorely missed but the expectation was Moody/JK/JMG could fill that role.

The bigger problem is what caused our locker room dysfunction this year and why does the team not seem as happy and harmonious as previous seasons?

I would guess losing Lee, JTA, Beli, GP2 (majority of season) and OPJ caused a rather gaping leadership and comraderie void behind the scenes that the young guys like PBJ, Rollins, JK and Moody couldn’t fill. Adding Lamb probably hasn’t helped there either.

  32. warriorslover1999

Ehhh, if I’m steph, I’m taking some personal accountability too.

The whole core this year has been unfocused, unmotivated, and lazy.

  33. Dishavingfun

Is this Steph’s way of firing a warning shot?

  34. Dazzling-Budget-7701

This sub expected 65 wins when the season started. Who wasn’t high on JP, Wiseman, KumGod, moody and the new additions?

  35. Objective_Celery_509

The warriors have 4 near max guys not playing at the level needed to win a championship. I don’t blame kuminga or Moody or GP2 or anyone else.

  36. by_yes_i_mean_no

Kinda wild to me that Warrior fans are convincing themselves that the problem is Curry/Klay/Draymond/Wiggins. Hope the front office isn’t thinking that way, it’s pretty obvious that all the Warriors need is a workable bench to win the championship, we got direct proof of that last season. Just get guys who fit into the system, Bjelica was collecting DNPs before he signed with the Warriors.

Really hoping Lacob isn’t moronic enough to let Draymond go, because the Warriors have zero chance to accomplish anything without him (and he’s still their second best player and was last season too btw).
