Monty Williams straight up had beef with one of his stars and decided he didn’t need to smooth it over after the Suns matched his offer. He also bitches and moans all the time and throws his team under bus while having the exact same problems as Bud, a man he lost to on the biggest stage because he decided to not adjust at all.
Would be an absolutely idiotic move. His biggest attribute is “setting a culture”, something I thought Bud did a great job of doing the past 5 years so what is the point of Monty Williams at this stage?
I honestly don’t know what to think of Monty. On the one hand he had to try to game plan with the shell of Chris Paul, and center who did not give a fuck, and a depleted roster despite the suns trading for KD. On the other hand. They had Booker and KD and Monty never had really done anything that wowed me. I have my preferences that aren’t him, but it’s not like we’d be hiring a Brooks or Jackson. Just kinda whelmed I guess?
Can’t say I’d be overly enthused with this. But they’ve been interviewing bottom of the barrel candidates like Mark Jackson and Scott Brooks and this would certainly be better than that. Still just kind of bewildered Nurse’s name hasn’t come up at all.
Investigate the front office for being sabotaging double agents. How tf you gonna hire the coach that got beat by the one you fired??
