[HoopsHype] NBA Intel: James Harden, Doc Rivers, Sixers, Rockets, Nets, more

>Following the departures of Igor Kokoskov – who’s a candidate to join Quin Snyder’s staff in Atlanta as reported by HoopsHype – Brian Keefe, and Tiago Splitter, the Brooklyn Nets are beginning to reshape their bench around Jacque Vaughn.
>
>The Nets are adding Jay Hernandez as an assistant coach to Jacque Vaughn’s staff, league sources told HoopsHype. Hernandez previously worked as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets and was on Vaughn’s staff with the Orlando Magic as a player development coach. Hernandez starred locally for Hofstra University on Long Island in college.
>
>Another Nets assistant coaching candidate to keep an eye on is Will Weaver, league sources told HoopsHype. Weaver has drawn interest from multiple NBA teams this offseason, including the Raptors, sources said. He previously worked for the Nets as an assistant coach and was the G League Coach of the Year for Brooklyn’s affiliate, the Long Island Nets.
>
>James Borrego was another name floated earlier this offseason with Brooklyn, but he has also received interest from several other teams, including the Rockets — whom he interviewed for the team’s head coaching position — the Mavericks and the Pelicans.
>
>As noted above, Brooklyn’s Royal Ivey has drawn interest from the Rockets.
>
>Should the Nets look internally for an assistant coach, Ronnie Burrell, the NBA G League Coach of the Year, would be a strong option. During the season, Burrell led Long Island to a franchise-record 16-game winning streak.
