Lebron in year 20 and “worn down” is averaging (in the 2023 playoffs) close to Larry Bird’s career playoff average.

We are witnessing greatness. (Bird played 13 seasons)

    That’s actually insane

    Just king shit

  2. KnickedUp

He is JUST larry bird now. Thats his done and dusted level

*Lebron in year 20 and with a foot that requires surgery.

Way different league and play style. Offensive records are being broken weekly

I keep reminding the haters that Lebron was averaging 30 before his injury 🤷‍♂️

And his stats will keep improving as we’ve seen how insanely good he was during game 6 and game 5 against the Gsw. He avoided post up situation during round one but soon dominated the paint during round two. And I really think he can still put up 26-28 pts if needed or if they assign him as their first scoring option.

Larry was washed (largely due to injury) from 1988 onward which includes several not great playoff series, which bring down his career numbers. At his peak he was a 27/10/7 guy. Still not in peak LeBron’s league, but better than LeBron now.

I respect Bird and it’s always more than just numbers but people who try to say that Lebron hasn’t surpassed bird yet are just hating

Knicks fan here – honestly the most impressive thing I saw in the last series was the effort on defense. He “appeared” to be effective but would be curious to see what the numbers show to see if it matched eye test.

Lebron’s endurance at his age is remarkable, plus his performances come after having played more po games than Bird.

Bird only had to play best of 3 games at first, then best of 5 in the first round series back then. In some seasons, the teams Lebron has played for have needed more than 5 games to win some 1st round series, but after playing more games/minutes, one would think he would be worn down.

It literally doesn’t make sense what this man doing in year 20. Salute 🫡

Lebron is a super human athlete lol. With way better advancements in health/diet/medicine/conditioning techniques

Look at bird. He’s not even close to be considered a real athlete lol.

Also I feel like a few of his better scoring nights got cut short because of blowouts both ways. Seems like the shot his back bet he’ll average like 26/27 from here on out

I know we’re not supposed to say it out loud but Larry Bird is an *incredibly* overrated basketball player given his list of accomplishments, longevity, and statistical output. A very good player, but not top-10. Year 20 LeBron meeting his career playoff numbers should be evidence enough of that. The mythmaking around him is mostly forced and contrived. And three consecutive MVPs? I think we can all see what was going on there at the time.

But we can’t say it because Bird made the present generation of white sports pundits feel feelings when they were little boys. Representation matters, I guess 😂

The game is so different now, it’s pointless to compare.

  16. Old man LeBron probably eclipses Bird’s best years even after he moves past age 40, I actually admire the people that go die on that Larry Bird hill after watching LeBron for two decades

  17. After offseason foot surgery LeBron really gonna come back and dust the league at 39 and most will act surprised when he averages 30, 8, 6 again
