Malcolm Brogdon: “Al has given this league so much. He’s given this organization so much, these guys so much. And I think a big piece for us is to want to see him go out on top, go out with a championship, go out with a ring. Because he’s more deserving than anybody.”

Malcolm Brogdon also admitted that the spiritual leader of our team is Al Horford.

“You know you have a special leader when guys like Jayson Tatum, a top-five player in the world, Jaylen Brown, another top player in the world, listen to him. … They want his feedback.”

Did Brogdon just accidentally announce Al’s retirement?

Okay well don’t retire just yet Al. Not the way he’s playing

I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think this could be Al’s last year at this level. The legs are gonna go sooner rather than later, and I feel like that’s an aspect of the fire he’s been showing in the huddles, etc.

We rely on him so much defensively, I don’t think people always notice how essential he is to everything we do. When he finally retires or has really limited minutes, he is going to be extremely difficult to replace. Hardly any bigs do what he does.

    We should get #DoItForBigAl trending

It’s actually fucking insane he’s still this good. We just watched him become the current league MVP’s shadow under incredible pressure, AND be a vocal leader on a team with two All-NBA players even though he’s not known for it.

His college team won national titles with Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah. Those guys were washed and barely clinging onto roster spots 5 years ago, and here’s Al with a major role on a top-flight contender. At this age it’s basically him and Lebron, and I’ll give a little love to PJ and Kyle Lowry but I don’t think either have nearly the impact Al does on the Celtics. Absolute legend.

I think having a vet like AL who LOVES being here really benefits the young guys and potential FAs.

I honestly want them to win this year almost solely so Horford and Griffin can get a ring.
