Weāre in the dawn of a new era. Itās gonna be very interesting to see what our motives are this offseason
Ishbia gonna open the check book?
Thatās a pretty unattractive job in a lot of ways though, not many assets beyond KD and Book.
Well, at least it isnāt about the money so props to Lacob for walking the walk. Maybe Bob wants more of a supervisory role and Lacob would like him to still be more hands on? Seems like Bob can get the same money but chill as an exec in another industry, and to be fair, that sounds pretty good.
We’ll be okay. A more proactive executive is what we needed this past season.
Hot take. I donāt care one bit lol. Appreciate Bob and heās a good dude. But as long as curry is still here, things will keep moving. This honestly will lead to a GM who will pull the trigger on an uncomfortable move
well that would be less than ideal
Wasnāt it said months ago that talks had been tabled until the season was over? Myers said himself that he was more focused on the season at hand, ie getting to the playoffs and then the playoffs. Like the pause in negotiations isnāt new news.
Edit to add sources for my above comment:
From back in [December](https://nba.nbcsports.com/2022/12/11/report-warriors-president-bob-myers-working-on-expiring-contract/amp/):
Golden State ownership and Myers — a two-time NBA Executive of the Year — have had conversations on a new contract, **but those talks appear to be on hiatus, sources saidā¦**
“My entire focus is on the season and the team,” Myers told ESPN on Saturday, declining to discuss his status further.
—
Myers previously said he is ācompletely focused on this season.
āI enjoy coming to work every day and again, when the seasonās overā¦ all that stuff, Iāll figure it out but if I wasnāt enjoying myself each day, I wouldnāt do this,ā Myers told this newspaper in January. āI feel good now, weāll see how I feel at the end of the year.ā

“What I would tell (fans), and they won’t like the answer, is it’s not a focus on me, it’s a focus on the team to keep this thing going,” Bob Myers said on 95.7 The Game (h/t the [_San Francisco Chronicle_](https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/warriors/article/warriors-gm-bob-myers-don-t-make-18094936.php).) “There will be a time when the season is over to think about that, to process that and see how it unfolds and how I feel. The fans and the media, they’re allowed to kind of look ahead while the series is going on. There will be a time for those answers.
“But as we sit here now with a game (Friday) night, I don’t think about that and what that is and what the answer to that is because I don’t have to right now. I want to give everything I have to the team and the season. Somebody smarter a long time ago gave me advice: Don’t make a decision until you have to.”

Edit 2: The use of āleague sourcesā in the article is also a big tell here. If they were actually breaking news/adding anything meaningful to whatās already known, the source(s) would be coming from inside the Warriors org. not some amorphous āleague sources.ā
weāre in the endgame now
edit: I do find the idea funny of the new GM being of the worst picks in franchise history
If he really leaves I wish him the best, thankful for everything heās done for us. I trust the organization to find someone who can fill in his role in the future.
Change isnt always a bad thing
I feel like heās already made up his mind and has just been thinking about letting every one down easy lmao. Gonna be a tough break.
Honestly think heās just trying to make them sweat a bit for a bit of leverage. A professional such as Myers with his ethics would have informed them already if he was going to move onā¦.
Make Rich Paul the GM
I don’t think we need Bob to be a contender, but I think Bob leaving might be to save his relationships with our core players?
Like he knows Lacob wants to lowball Klay or trade Draymond and he doesn’t want to be a part of it? As that quote of his says “if I didn’t enjoy coming in to work I wouldn’t be doing this”. Maybe he knows this off-season is gonna be an unpopular one.
Fun fact: Dunleavey was the one who convinced the rest of the front office that Poole had to be our pick.
No more reports until thereās something actual to report
I always assume articles like these are negotiating tactics tbh. Not reading much into it in terms of Myers’ likeliness to leave.
Thank you for everything, Bob
If he wants to keep growing his career, now is the best time to go. He struck oil once. If he stays with the franchise, odds are good it wonāt happen again, which risks tarnishing his reputation when he looks for a new role. Unless his plan is to retire with the Warriors, this may be his best chance to leave.
Honestly, I appreciate everything that heās done for us, but the last few years have not been the greatest (on his end). Donāt go at me too hard, but I believe that last years championship was something that is not replicable and he kind of lucked out. Signing Otto Porter for a min was one of the most fortunate things that happened, and getting GP2s production on his contract was amazing as well. The veterans carried the burden and the young guys were getting carried for the most part. As for the draft picks, drafting a big in a wing heavy league was a terrible mistake. Wiseman getting traded for GP2 was one of the biggest blunders the FO has made (in the sense that we couldāve had Lamelo, Ant, or Hali but we ended up with essentially nothing). Kuminga hasnāt really contributed in any meaningful way (and I donāt see Bob pulling the trigger to trade him). The one good pick was stealing Jordan Poole at 28, but he might even be gone this off-season. Maybe Dunleavy sucks even worse, but maybe he stops the two timelines bullcrap and pulls the trigger to prolong the Dray-Klay-Steph core. Only time will tellā¦
Sucks, but at least they’re likely promoting in-house and choosing some from Bob Myers’ camp with Mike Dunleavy Jr. Off-season planning shouldn’t change much, hopefully the FO doesn’t skip a beat.
Losing Bob is a bummer, but it seems like it’ll be on his own terms, so hopefully there is no bad blood with Lacob that could spill over and result in Steph, Dray, or Kerr being irked. And if he’s going out and doing something besides being a NBA GM, even better because that makes me think it really was just a change of scenery he wanted, which you can’t really fault him for.
Dunleavy would be coming into a REALLY difficult situation, but I doubt Myers walks if he doesn’t think he’ll handle it well. Warranted or not, he likely feels some semblance of obligation to leave Steph and the core in good hands. Bob was a bit of a Draymond whisperer, so yeah, that is a blow with Dray maybe hitting FA. Also would have been nice to have him spearheading extension talks and this Poole v Draymond drama, but hey, maybe having someone less emotionally attached to the core will help.
Excited to see what Dunleavy has in store. He could be an absolute fucker when on the court, maybe that helps in trade talks and FA negotiations lol. Also gotta think he’s willing to play ball and stand up to Lacob, Kerr, and the core when need be, not that Myers wouldn’t have done the same.
As long as he ain’t a puppet, which I really doubt he’d agree to, I assume the team will be alright. Definitely helps to have Steph on contract for 3 more years lol. May get some direction (e.g. how much Lacob is willing to pay, Steph wanting certain players gone, etc.), but as long as he’s not feeling pressured into a decision, either by Lacob or the players, that’s fine.
Was a player scout for a bit, so that could be fun for the draft nerds. Hopefully he hits this year, either with 19, or if they trade it, with a couple UDFAs they stick on two-ways. Doesn’t need to be an upside swing either, just bring in a player that can actually be positive contributor while one their rookie scale.
Stricter CBA (2nd apron), huge tax bill, trade handcuffs (can’t take more salary then they send out, eventual restrictions on the 1sts they send out, no use of cash), Dray and Klay extensions, Poole’s max and general fit, JK’s frustration with his role, Kerr’s perceived stubbornness, no TPMLE and only vet mins for FA, no ’24 1st limiting potential trade opportunities via the Stepien Rule, no buyout additions, inability to buy 2nd rounders… gonna have a lot to over come. But again, thank fuck they got Steph, cause he alone will help make Dunleavy’s job easier lol
Well fuck Iām gonna get some bad ptsd seeing Mike Dunleavy ruin Warriors games again
Bob submitted an offer and counter?
This isnāt sounding like Bob mid life crises or family man, thereās more to it. I wouldnāt be shocked if he takes another NBA job two years after leaving or was just disinterested with the Lacob family dynsmic.
Kirk Lacob, cmon down
Thatāll be really sad he would be the first major piece the dynasty would lose
