“I was on a different team … and they weren’t even going to make the playoffs. Now I’m here on the west coast in the Conference Finals. It feels crazy.” — Rui Hachimura on his trade to the Lakers [@ESPNNBA]

He was set up for that response, chill.

Is anything in those quotes factually incorrect? I don’t see the issue

Zero slander in that very diplomatic, standard athlete interview answer. Happy for Rui.

  5. Yeah he’s not wrong, just the truth. Hopefully one day, players would say the same about the Wizards 😔

    [Alright, damn.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsIyphGp0Vc)

Kinda lame that the organization was so respectful of his totally unexplained absence for half a season and he still hits us with this. Especially since he asked for a trade and was publicly talking about how unhappy he was before the trade.

  7. It feels personal. But I’m happy for him. I think.

Good for him, he’s also put together a few solid games this postseason

    It’s crazy. It’s a true statement.

Unfortunately, Wizards was dependent on his improvement to a next level, which never happened.

As a Laker, he is literally doing exact same thing he was doing here. Nothing more, nothing less.

His skill set is just more useful with a team that deploys LeBron and AD, rather than a team that relies on him to be that next “guy”

Good for him, but we don’t have to worry about signing him, and move on.

Watching Rui play this well as a fucking Laker in the CONFERENCE FINALS is genuinely heartbreaking. I’m not even sure if I am rooting for him anymore

This is not the insult to the wizards some people might think it is. He’s not wrong, and it must be kind of crazy for him. That being said one of the reasons we were never gonna make the playoffs is because he never made the jump we needed him to.

This franchise is trash and players are right to be glad to leave. Ted, please either sell or turn this shit around.

  13. Notorious_Beebs

Just a standard statement. No news there really or shade being thrown.

Glad Rui made it to the Lakers since he’s one of those big Kobe fans

Depressing seeing how good he is playing. Going to hurt more when we trade deni and he shows us what he is made of

I’m really getting tired of the players that get drafted by us move on and play better narrative. He wasn’t the right fit here, this team wasn’t a rui away from anything. Just the cards that were dealt. Sucks as a fan but all the best to him and his career

Bad development, bad coaching, and traded for peanuts. I’m still mad.
