The Case for Jordan Hawkins at #13

For the Raptors 13th pick im currently torn between Jordan Hawkins, Keyonte George and Kobe Bufkin. (Cason Wallace is there too but idt he falls to 13.)

Now if we decide to go with Hawkins we get a player that will immediately be our most deadly weapon from 3. His off-ball movement is extremely deadly making him the type of shooter that teams would need to gameplan for. Think Klay Thompson.

During the NCAA run where he lead UConn to the championship, Hawkins was out of his mind and shot over 50% from 3! You might think that’s an outlier, but for the entire season he shot 49.4% on spot-up catch-and-shoot 3pt shots (40-81).

The kid can outright shoot the lights out and has displayed the kind of dynamic shooting that can win you a game. Going into the draft our biggest need is perimeter scoring and he would play a big role in solving that.

Sure he’s not the best on-ball creator, but can you imagine us starting our half court sets with Scottie on the block with the ball and Hawkins coming off multiple off ball screens to catch the Scottie pass to drain the 3 with a defender desperately trying to keep up.

I can see Hawkins being Scotties best friend on the court real quick with how he gets himself open.

jordan hawkins is a nice player but I have a feeling we are going to make a bruno like pick and select Rayan Rupert

he would be a W fit next to Scottie 100%, I do think there are others with higher upsides tho who can also drive to the rim and shoot like Keyonte George can do both, I do think he would be a perfect fit tho especially on a contending team

I’d be happy with either Jordan or Kobe tbh

Hawkins would be rlly nice and I would love to have his shooting on this team, but I love Kobe too much

He measured pretty small at the combine so I’m not sure his defense translates here, but I agree he has a huge floor and would be huge off the bench.
