Jimmy Butler’s full post-game thoughts on Grant Williams: “Yes, it did [fuel me]. That’s just competition at its finest. He hit a big shot and starting talking to me.. I like that. […] It makes me key in a lot more.. It makes me smile. […] I just don’t know if I’m the best person to talk to.”

That grant Williams is a big meanie

  2. Latarjet3

If Kawhi was doing this everyone would be anointing him the next king

  3. Neuroxex

Seen Jimmy Butler do this twice in a row to a team that didn’t talk shit back. While I believe what he’s saying, I feel like the Heat would have won anyway.

  4. Goodisworthfighting4

Honestly he gave Grant a good amount of respect on top of all the trash talk.

  5. Oathbreaker31

What’s Grant supposed to do instead, suck him off?

man, after watching these playoffs if I was an star NBA player I’d talk soo much trash to the other team’s 10th best player and know I have no poking of bears to worry about…like soooo much trash…like Luke Kornet and Haywood Highsmith would hear it all game

  7. JustGimmeAnyOldName

Sucks Williams did that. Otherwise I’m convinced Jimmy Butler was going to just give up down the stretch in the 4th quarter of a playoff game like we’ve seen him do so many times before…

This whole thing is so funny. The NBA is a soap opera for sports fans.

But I thought it was just Tatum and Brown being bad?

  9. rbrutonIII

His defense wasn’t doing anything to stop it, but he was at least putting in the effort and coming through on the offensive end when his number was called.

Rest of his team shat the bed

Yeah – I think Bill Simmons is right. What’s wrong with Boston isn’t the trash talking that Grant Williams did or the spirit that he showed. It’s more that the two co-alphas on the team _didn’t_ show any spirit or fire.

  11. CruffTheMagicDragon

Jimmy is lying because Bill Simmons said so

“I just don’t know that I’m the best person to talk (trash) to” 💀💀💀💀💀

Idc what anyone says about Grant “out of the rotation” Williams getting a few buckets and showing heart, he very likely cost them the game there and the whole season. I know Jimmy does this often but it’s a bad look when the second Grant got in his face, anyone watching knew he was fucking up monumentally in real time. I felt really embarrassed for him.

Despite how bad JB was, all anyone will remember from this entire Celts season is an end of the bench role player thinking he’s “that guy” and provoking the literal son of Michael Jordan.

Thinking about Butler and prime Bird fuel talking each other now

I dont understand why tatum has been shoved down our throats for years like hes the annointed one. is it because he is controllable? meek? I dont care what anyone says this guy deserves a lions share of the respect tatum has gotten.

People saying Grant didn’t fire Jimmy up, clearly it did Fire Jimmy up a bit more, and no one backed Grant up.

Erik Spoelstra is such a great coach, he did all the right things for Jimmy. Doesn’t happen without him.

I think context is really important here. For a tired Jimmy Butler, going back to Miami with the series at 1-1 is a big win so maybe it’s ok to conserve energy and coast. But Jimmy Butler getting disrespected by Grant Williams? Hell no. Now the stakes are raised.

For Grant Williams, you get the win and you’re still at 1-1 and lost home court advantage. This is a gamble that he gets his team fired up and gets some much needed momentum going in to Miami. Maybe not the best gamble but I put more blame on his team for not having his back and raising their level too.

I totally loved that getting in Butler’s face by Grant. But I knew we were in trouble afterwards. For what’s it’s worth Grant held his own on the offensive end there for a bit, but that other Cs were not there with him.

  20. Tim5000

Jimmy basically saying if Grant didn’t shit talk him, he would be more insulted.

  21. SalvadorSanchez883

Jimmy stays poised and collected mentally and physically. Very dangerous player.

Jimmy Butler even sounds like his father. We need Maury ASAP
