Thought the whole analysis was a little off. Devaluing shooting? Amen as an all nba defender early in his career? Miller not having the āstarā factor despite being far and away the college player with that factor all year?
Just all strange to me and a bit of (1) oh crap Rockets landed 4th so let me talk myself into this guy a month ago I DID NOT want (not saying yāall 3 had that view though I believe Frank kinda did) and (2) athleticism athleticism athleticism!!!!!!!
When the Rockets select him Iāll be rooting for all the pros/positives/upsides mentionedā¦ but Iām not going to change my analysis from before he was the likely rockets pick. [well Iāll have a little hopium too I guess]

I too am a bit worried about Amen as hes a bit of a gamble. But tbh after 3 years of KPJ as the PG , I'm willing to take that gamble. After 3 years without a proper PG I'm just excited to see the Rockets function like a proper NBA team.

Ik u laughed at kpj starting but I think what best for him. Kpj is our best shooter and Udoka is talking more about off ball shots for him. I think allowing amen to be in 2nd unit allows easier baskets for him and less pressure from the competitiveness of overtime to nba. Lineups are also better because we donāt start the game with 2 non shooters.
The thing with Amen is he does not match with the front offices vision of the next season. One thing is for sure, he wonāt directly lead to significantly more wins.

Everyone saying we need a perimeter scoring/playmaker, Well why is everyone against bringing in the best in the league? Harden would be a nice fit with the guys we have now. He led the league in assists and probably the best pick and roll player in the league. Could you imagine pick and pops with Bari and Sengun? I'm all for Harden returning and I'm also all for drafting Amen. Look what Draymond Green has done for the Warriors, he's not by any means a good shooter but when you need passing, defense and hustle he's their man.

Another great show gentlemen! This kid reminds me of a young Ron Artest. Now Artest was not the greatest shooter but was a impactful defender. I think Amen has that attitude which I personally canāt wait to see Amen, Tari, and Jarbi on defense. Once the Spurs got the first pick, the team needs to focus on defense, passing, and play making which are a team weakness.

Amen shot 65% from the free throw line and 25% from three. That's absurdly bad, especially for a ball dominant guard. I don't care about his length and defensive potential, he has bust written all over him… He's the next Dante exum

Wasn't too crazy about this draft only because I was told that Victor was a generational talent an we need a legitimate point woth maybe scoot other than that we need to be focus on developing what we got!! Do we actually know what we got after Silas thank god for the new coach !!

I'd hate to trade a top 4 pick if that's their plan especially to get some vets to appease Harden. Also dont want Amen to be the next Cam Reddish. Cam Whitmore or Walker looks good.
My concern is when playoffs roll around, non scorers get switched on islands continuously where teams really have time to plan their assignments & schemes and adapt game to game.
On the flipside, so do short PGs.
I don't want any rookies added to this team. Rockets should be able to find a trade for their 4th pick and get a player we could use. Actually if they drafted a tall center I wouldn't mind that. What are the chances Zack Edey could be the next Walker Kessler? Is he slower than Brook Lopez? The biggest improvement the Rockets can make is get rid of all the non shooter. They need a ball handler or 2 if they trade off KPJ. I doubt they do that though.
All the people that were praying for Victor probably finished their prayers with Amen. I think God got confused…

Amen is AMAZING! An absolute WOW! Looking at highlights, even his full court passing has Stroud-like accuracy! Driving, for a layup, is jaw-dropping! Shooting? Not good, but if not for that, I think heās second best in the draft.
AT ceiling is higher than Scoot, if he reaches his potential.
I would love to draft Amen for the Rockets team 2 yrs ago, but not now. Itās all about timing. Amenās development trajectory doesnāt fit well with our organisational goal timelines
It's funny, after Piercy said to trade Sengun, he lost all credibility with me. I skipped listening to him after that.
Nah I think The Rockets take Jarace Walker at 4. He is too perfect of a pick and he is right there in their own backyard. He has more upside of shooting than Amen and been tested at the D1 Level. He also has a more NBA ready body than Amen. Walker is 6'8 240 elite level defense and Ball handle with playmaking to match man you can't pass that up. Amen is a project player ( Nothing wrong with that) but the Rockets don't need anymore projects. While Jarace has a clear roll that can evolve into something bigger.
I think he is so good that he might not be there at 4

I know Rockets need a pg , but we should not overlook Cam whitmore, measure at 6'5 3/4 and around 230. Bro is athletic and got nba ready body. He got a crazy bag too, knows how to use his body to bump smaller players and post guys up . Jalen at the 1 , cam at the 2. Look at lebron , jokic , jimmy , ant š, Jalen brown. Those guys are physical and got a post game. When their 3 aint hitting they can still drive and post guys up.

Houston need a pass first defensive pg, Amen will fit into that role. Not from day one, which is ok. And he has feel for the game that current players doesnt have except Alpi. But I think the priority of FO is not to develop another rookie after 3 yrs of bad looking tanking, they will go for vets. They may skip all those prospects not called Wembly.
