Two things can be true at once. Brad hung Joe out to dry by not getting him experienced assistants and Joe also sucks as a coach. This team won 57 games because of the talent not because of Joe

Udoka bench was stacked (coaches) & Joe didn’t get that luxury bc had it picked apart the whole year & offseason

Washburn said on air he wasn’t sure if Joe decided against bringing in other assistants. Basically thought he was fine by himself.

As Fredo said “I’m your older brother and I was stepped over!” Except we kept Fredo and might have let Mike go.

And horndog Sonny is in Houston lmao.

I do feel for Joe on many levels. Joe came in as a head coach late in the offseason after a very tumultuous situation and to have your first head coaching position being a championship or bust job is tough on anyone.

I feel like we’ve seen a lot of straw man’s the last couple of days. The question should be whether Joe is the right coach for this team’s current championship window. We are not questioning his overall potential as a coach but there are steps to becoming what Joe is getting outclassed by in Spo – Spo did not just waltz into being the head coach. To me, Joe has a future in the NBA, but this team doesn’t need inexperienced talent looking to grow; it needs a proven coach that’s battle-tested with multiple runs to prove it. This is literally no different than any other job. You can’t cut corners on the way to the top echelon of your career and expect to have everything in certainty. And if you do, you better have all the results to show for it – ultimately, that’s how you get promoted quicker and have staying power. Unfortunately, we don’t have the results to show for it and I’d expect Joe to understand he should need to go through the normal course of working his way up the ladder.

It’s a problem for sure. I think what makes it worse was all the perceived problems with the team and Mazzula during the season, which were even more overanalyzed during the Hawks and Philly series, and now seem really bad beacause we are about to get swept.

If we were tied 1-1, up 2-1, down 1-2 and this series went to 6 or 7 games in this Heat series, I think the discourse around Mazzulla would be a little less harsh. Hell, if the Celtics had lost Game 7 but had put up good numbers, we probably would be less harsh on Mazzulla. But everything went wrong at the wrong time, and now all the little problems we’ve had since the start of the season are making the team pay.

So beacause everything really sucks now at the moment it’s really hard to see the positives of such a shaky season were we somehow against all odds got the No.2 seed. It’s much easier to put all the blame in Mazzulla, forgetting that he is low on staff, players were injured most of the season, and of course he was put into this job much earlier in his career.

Joe lost himself, Damon, and will hardy as assistant coaches from the time he took over

And right around the time he left was when we started seeing the old Celtics rear their ugly heads.

None of the “analysts” will ever discuss the fact that we’ve made it this far with what is essentially a makeshift coaching staff, 3 main cogs in our motor room left, it’ll just be that we are shit

Bruh it’s been brought up heaps of times, I see it all the time in this sub.

Jo or the locker room must have turned these guys off or something. I can’t imagine why else Damon would leave a potential championship team that could then open doors for him to head coach in the nba. He must’ve seen the writing on the wall

Anyone know why damon couldn’t stay for at least the end of the playoffs?
