Hopefully it’ll give him a little edge to try and get that FMVP

If Murray plays at a FMVP level, then I’d find it hard to believe the Heat take more than 1 game, *maybe* 2

Love that Jok is a team guy and doesn’t care much about these mvps but it does make me wish Jamal would get this type of recognition every now and then. Hoping he plays well enough in finals to get the FMVP because I think it would mean a lot to him. As a fan I just hope they win it but for Mal a FMVP I think would keep him content to not want to get out of Jokic’s shadow.

Jamal easily could have won it but I feel the league was trying to make up for the regular season MVP ordeal.

Whatever their reason, I wish they would realize Jamal would be more willing to give them what they want.

You want someone to give an impassioned speech about his basketball hero’s and what the sport means to him? That’s Jamal. You want someone who will say some NBA brand supporting shit like “Jobs not done” whatever, you’re not gonna get it from Jokic.

I also thought WCFMVP could have gone to Jamal. My son had lots of reasons for no, not really. Thanks so much for sharing this. You are awesome.

You know what they say about when you assume (it’s fun and chill, everyone should do it)

Jokic broke another one of Wilt’s unbeatable records – in Wilt’s house. He has three triple doubles on a sweep in the Western Finals. Jamal had an absolutely monster Western Finals. Extremely efficient to a historic degree.

If we look at the the entire playoffs to point, it has to go to Jokic. He has been phenomenal all playoffs long. If we look at just the Western Conference Finals, Jamal is right there if not slightly ahead.

Jamal is an elite guard who isn’t recognized outside of Denver. I love that people are seeing him play at such a high level.

Personally, I think small market teams are ignored so heavily by the media that many players don’t get the accolades they deserve. If the Nuggets v Heat have a great series with high ratings, I’m hoping the league makes some big adjusts to how it markets these teams and players. There is too much great talent out there to focus on just a few teams and superstars while ignoring the rest.

It would not surprise me AT ALL to see Mal get Finals MVP. I think he is going to unleash the fireworks.

  8. aimessss

Mal looks like he wouldn’t have minded getting. I think it should have went to Jamal tbh.

  9. Draeon24

Jamal and Jokic is 1A 1B, like absolitely 51.5% and 48.5%

I think its not yet his time to get his MVPs but get his first recognition as an All Star and All NBA. And once he get those and Denver gets to the play off with an even better Murray, that’s where we get conference finals MVP murray and finals MVP murray.

Good catch, I didn’t notice this. Honestly I was half expecting them to give it to Jamal with how amazing he had been, but Jokic 100% deserved it

  11. thenotoriouspo2

You can tell he wanted it badly – wish he got it

I agree on your opinion and think he was embracing Jamal as well. I figured it’ll go to Nikola but I honestly thought it should go to Jamal but I also think maybe just a little that Joker getting robbed of the regular season mvp played into it as well

  13. hdjdjdjfjksjf

Interesting angle. After mvp chant everyone was speculating that KCP yelled “the real one.” I actually think it was p watt. He shouts something towards the end and is near the mic

If you go game-by-game, I think Jokic was their MVP for two (games 1 and 4) and Jamal was their MVP for two (games 2 and 3).

Both still played critical roles in the other’s standout games, though (Jamal going off in game 1, Jokic’s game 3 4th quarter).

So they were pretty damn tit-for-tat. Murray was the series leading scorer, and the first one to ever average 30+ ppg on 50/40/90 shooting splits in a conference finals. Jokic broke Wilt Chamberlain’s record for most triple doubles in one post season, although that was a cumulative record over the course of three series (not just this one).

I think it boiled down to game 4 where Jokic was undoubtedly the hero for the close-out game. Had Murray and Jokic’s game 2 and 4 performances been switched, it might’ve been Murray getting the award.

  15. Proper_Maximum5739

Jokic deserved it more, sorry Jamal, great series though.

  16. Nintendomandan

Honestly I would’ve voted for Jamal for it, he played his ass off this series and we don’t sweep without him. But I understand it. Finals MVP is still to come….

  17. TiggleBitMoney

Not sure if the team has any hand in deciding but if so I would think this would maybe be a good strategy to keep Jamal hungry for FMVP, mean while joker won’t be effected either way. I’d also love to see Jamal get FMVP as that is a serious piece of hardware that will impact his legacy more than Jokic, who only needs a ring at this point.

  18. AltruisticEnd9

This fucking team man. How lucky are we to root for such a high-character guys?

  19. You can see more of the slap after math from Bruce.

  20. GuyIncognitoMode

I love how Jokic only held it for the 5 seconds it took to gently put it back on the table.

  21. FullHeartsTightParts

I think if it was up to Joker, Mal carried. The league or whoever decides this shit? Totally trying to make up for the MVP. Y’all made your bed, now fuck in it

  22. EmergencyAccording94

I think this is similar to the 86 finals where even though Mchale was the leading scorer and was very efficient, Bird was still the most impactful player of that series.

  23. reinonthesteppes

Love this and really hope mal gets his respect and due. Jokic deserved it but wouldnt mind if they gave it to mal cos it means more to him than anything

  24. 1Solaris-

I’d say it’s fair the guy who spent last year getting his eye gouged out while carrying g leaguers got the award
