I’d love to get him as an assistant coach, same with JJ Reddick. But honestly, I’d go above and beyond trying to secure Monty Williams. He’s the best candidate out there for sure.

Really just sounds like us hooking up the Canadian legend with some good PR and I’m not mad at it.
He’s probably being considered for an assistant spot unless he REALLY laid out the framework for how he would approach this opportunity differently than his last and blew them away with it.
Given it would’ve taken a crazy good pitch, I’m not worried about it.

This would be an absolutely abysmal signing. Not a single person has had anything positive to say about his coaching skills. No system, no sets, can’t manage personalities.
Vaughn went 31-15 before the deadline with the exact same team. Hell, he was even missing durant a bunch, and 12-15 after the deadline.

To be fair to Nash, he had 2 players with huge Egos straight up refuse to work properly with him. I don’t care what team you are in but when an allstar and a superstar refuse to work with the HC, the other players will follow suit.

I mean, I love Nash. He was my favourite player growing up and I defended him through and through when he was being shit on for the Nets job. Because you’d have to be a moron to not realize that it was just a complete shit-show in Brooklyn with Kyrie, KD, and Harden.
But he also hasn’t proven that he can be a good coach and it just seems like an unnecessary risk when there are other candidates available with more experience.

I don’t really care who ends up getting hired, it would be nice to start seeing some movement towards some finalists, but that’s just me being impatient and wanting news. It’s just a bunch of guys who people know nothing about as a HC except for Nash who had to deal with the craziest possible team to be a rookie HC for.

I would put money on Nash not getting hired here as HC. Does not fit the type of coach that fit’s Masai’s vision for a contender. Nash is not a good in-game adjuster, defensive or motivational coach. He has experience as a development coach but even then there are better options. Toronto before the NN era rarely leaked and I doubt this rumour has any legs.
