Starts at about 6:30 into it.

Not a ton of Timberwolves content. Asked about a pivot this offseason and Finch obviously shot it down. Basically said he doesn’t expect to pivot away from the two bigs “any time soon.” Praised the Conley trade and thought they had an identity when healthy (for like the five games they were)

At about 12:00 minutes in Colin asks about the Heat and I thought this was the most interesting part of the conversation:

    * Developing players into specific roles around star players, “the fastest track to develop young players.” Give them a narrow scope and let them know what the team needs.

    * Unlikely as it is, but possible hidden benefit of getting late 1sts, 2nds, or UDFA is they are likely kids who have been in college a couple years. They’ve gone through some more adversity, have a more NBA ready body, and more emotional maturity in handling a specific role opposed to younger prospects that go earlier in the draft.

Now, I don’t believe the Miami Heat blueprint is replicable, but I did think Finch’s comments were still interesting. Perhaps an insight at 53 or two way targets. Maybe the Wolves lean into upper classman conceding a lower ceiling, but maybe they can squeeze a little (repeat “a little”) contribution out sooner than later. Guys like Kobe Brown, Ricky Counil IV, Andre Jackson Jr., Terrance Shannon Jr., Jaylen Clark, Keyontae Johnson, Coleman Hawkins or Reece Beekman.
