Had it not been for Tyrese Haliburton missing time with injury, the Pacers would have been a play-in team. However the Pacers are picking 7th overall in this draft. I really like this Pacers core. They have established future cornerstones. As well as intriguing young talent with potential. But they also have a chance to add another potential cornerstone with the 7th overall pick. While it isn’t a top 3-5 pick that most fans want their team to have. 7th overall is still a spot where you can get a good player. And there’s one in particular that I like a lot for this Pacers team.

The Pacers front office knows they need defensive improvement to be a playoff team. Dan Burke should be available now that Doc is done in Philadelphia. The best move they could this entire offseason would be to bring him back. Defense used to be the identity of this franchise because of Dan. Cheaney went back to IU. Move Norad to player development and assistant defensive coach. As far as the draft goes, they need the next Thad Young. Hendricks looks like that guy to me. I'd trade the middle three picks in packages for upgrades at the wings. I do think the Dorian Finney Smith smoke is real.
