Personally, I’d do this in a heartbeat, though I don’t understand why Houston would give up so much
Really the only pause is how Mikal would feel, being broken up from his best friend and teammate of several years. If we want him to be our cornerstone, we shouldn’t upset him. But basketball is a business at this level, and this trade makes all the sense in the world for the Nets. Even if we didn’t get back our own 1st in 2024, I would still do it. CamJ is very good and will probably get even better. But I don’t think his upside touches that of the 4th pick, whoever it may be. Not to mention a 22/23 year old rotation player in Martin and two more future 1sts as eventual cash-in trade fodder

We take this, and with the 24 pick we may as well give bridges to portland. We would end up with okc level assets.
mharri05
What the hell? Why would houston do this?
zestysnacks
Now this would be interesting. Kinda massive overpay
LinuxUbuntuOS
Getting next years first back would be really nice. We’d get to actually rebuild (I don’t think Houston will be good until 2026, so the swap in 2025 probably won’t even convey)
YT_DomDaBomb20
Idk man I really like cam but having Martin play here like his dad did would be really really cool

They’re not taking this in a million years. I’m taking this a million times in one year
EdoubleYT
Rockets GM would be fired if he made this deal.
maria25701
This is embarrassingly one sides for us, Houston doesn’t come close to considering this

3 FRP including a top 4 pick for Cam Johnson. This was in an ‘article’?
Lao_xo
That’s a lot for Cam Johnson lol. I’d do it without the two first even.
johnjohnjohn93
That’s one of the most insane fake trades I’ve ever seen. In no world would the Nets not say yes. Even just the 4th pick for a restricted free agent would be worth it.
rtels2023
There’s no universe where the Nets get three firsts for Cam Johnson
netsfan2002
If Houston decided to overpay for him, I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Having said that, Houston would never make that offer lol. Maybe I’m missing something, but I can’t imagine any team being that high on him. Dudes solid but not great
BasedGodProdigy
Bruh this is a Mikal level haul. We would need all our own picks back but this is a heinous overpay for Cam Johnson

Sheeeeit, I’d do this if it was on the table

Cam is not Luka to command a haul like this.
ihavepaper
Don’t know why Houston would do that.
Not gonna lie, that’d be really tempting, BUT it would be annoying to now have a hole at SF again. I love that Cam J is finally a competent SF Nets have had since basically RJ, excluding KD.
TheMoorNextDoor
If we trading for anybody in the draft we trading for Scoot at this point.
And if we did this trade it would be better to just trade Bridges as well.
Either that or trade our two picks, Thomas, and a future pick for someone 5-8th pick to try and snag one of the Thompson Twins.
But if this trade was to come to the table you take it.
Historical-Clerk-755
No chance, cam isn’t better than the number 4 pick and he’s a free agent so if the rockets rlly want him they can just offer him more than then nets. Pretty delusional
