Let’s calm down on our “future first round picks” – we got fleeced on the amount of protections on most of them. There is a fairly reasonable scenario where we get a few late 2nd round picks, or nothing at all.
Clearly, I am not an NBA GM, but I’d rather give much larger protected ranges in the first 2-3 years, and guarantee at least SOME draft pick, than folding over, hoping the odds play out for us.
That being said – we gots the #1 pick!!! WEMBY!

Ayton goes to Portland, Portland gives SA the #3 pick, and Phoenix gets all of SA first round picks for 2024, 2025, and 2026, plus pick up Chris Paul remaining contract. Chris Paul is done, we all know that. That was possibly a career ender for CP3. So it's not out of the question, they (Suns) would want to get out of the huge contract. Who knows. CP3 doesn't play all season for the Spurs, then bring him in for the playoffs with the little gas he has left in the tank.

Unfortunately, I do not see a path to keep number 1 pick and move up to the third pick. It cost us a good PG and pick to move up to get Kawhi at late lottery. We got a better shot at trading for a 24 yr old PG. Maybe Tyrese Haliburton or Trae Young.
