Probably BS for negotiation purposes, still funny though.

Honestly, good. Mikal is really great, but I think the majority of the fan base would be upset if this was our only splash. And houses would burn if Sharpe was in the deal.

  3. Rusty_Squirts

Smokescreen season is always fun lol.

  4. cippy91

Fun posturing, lets see if the tune changes on draft night

  5. allaboutthatpace

If the “more” is one unprotected first or up to two lottery protected firsts I think I would still do it.

Edit: to be clear, I’m not including Sharpe in this

  6. JarenAnd

Good, keep him. We shouldn’t be sending all our assets out for one overpay. Further proof that using the pick ourselves is the best option.

  7. chrispdx

Fuck them, then. That’s already too high of a price.

  8. Intelligent_Self1034

Best course of action – do nothing. Let a chemistry between Ant/Dame/Sharpe/Grant/Thybulle/#3/Nurk continue to build.

  9. Vfbcollins

They said the same 24 hours before trading Durant, so must mean a trade is imminent lol

Alex Schiffer says a lot of shit that makes me think he doesn’t know anything beyond random speculation. His claims almost never have come with a source, named or unnamed, and his trade proposals often make no sense financially. The Nets know they sucked post KD (10-13), they will have to make decisions, I just don’t think it happens before the draft.

This means that Bridges absolutely IS available they just want a lot for him, and if the deal gets done it will happen when Portland is on the clock on draft night.

“They aren’t interested but would want more than Portland was willing to offer”… sounds a lot like we weren’t willing to meet their demands but that they WERE interested… and now we aren’t.

If Miller is there I’d probably rather keep the pick and look to package our other first + Ant + Nurk for an upgrade at the 5

If it’s Scoot… Well either you trade Dame and Ant and build around a Scoot/Sharpe backcourt with insane potential or you trade the pick + Ant and/or Nurk for whatever is there (which isn’t sounding like much so far)

  14. lonewanderer727

Definitely not worth one of those guys + the 3rd pick….but those here who are saying ‘overrated’, ‘don’t need’….dumb. He is a very good player at the wing position and would compliment Dame well. A great on ball defender with length and 3 level scorer.

Like what do people want? Giannis? Jokic? Captain America? Those kinds of trades are 1000% out of the question.

Yeah, this was exactly what I was afraid of when it comes to trading the third pick. Most GMs these days are really stubborn, and this is especially true when it involves high-level talent. Often times they’re not going to be willing to accept a trade unless they are the clear and obvious winner, and they all like to feel as if they’re the ones with the leverage, even when they’re not.

Unless a reasonable trade opportunity is found (unlikely, though admittedly not impossible), I think Portland should just keep the pick and build around Simons, Sharpe, and the #3 pick.

  16. SparkFunk30

I think only Houston can get him tbh, if they trade them back their picks lol which wouldn’t be a bad move at all imo

  17. GuysOnChicks69

I actually think the #3 straight up is probably worth it. Mikal is a proven commodity on both ends. He has also played in big playoff games already. Dame is 32. We know Sharpe is legit. Would love to keep Simons for burner nights. If Nurk is healthy and in shape that’s a solid team.

If you think Scoot or Miller could be generational, then it probably isn’t worth. I personally don’t see either of them being a guarantee, but what the fuck do I know lol. Just my two cents.

Obviously I’d prefer we get more. But I’m not burning down the world if we got Mikal Bridges for that pick.

  18. cowbee97

I think Ant is a very valuable trade piece, he was averaging 28ppg and 6apg in games without Dame this season. A lot of teams could use him, we’re just not one of them since we have Dame already. If Ant played the same role Mikal did for the nets as first option, he would put up 30+ lol

  19. bruggibuster

Smokescreen, but they’re not getting Sharpe for him regardless.

  20. ohmygodbeats7

Sounds like a negotiating tactic. These teams have obviously been talking.

  21. AcanthisittaGrand943

Good – Mikal isn’t worth all that.

I’d rather keep Ant and 3 pick.

  22. Isleofsalt

By the looks of it I’m in the minority but I hope this is just a smokescreen, I would happily trade the 3 for Bridges.

  23. Possible-Blood4556

The difference between this sub and Nets sub omg

  24. geese1401

So which one is it .. you’re not trading him, or you just want more in return?

  25. mrjdk83

It’s cause Ant’s an “older” player lol. Can’t believe they said that.

They are selling Bridges high and I think it will hurt them in the long run. Teams weren’t prepared for him during the regular season. That will change next year. I like Bridges a lot but don’t believe he’s a number 1. He’s a good number 2 or elite 3. They don’t want to be a lottery team because that would mean Houston would have a lottery pick next year and ‘26 and can swap in ‘23, ‘25, ‘27. If the blazers offered 3rd, simons, and ‘25, maybe that gets it done. That’s more then enough. Nets aren’t a playoff team next year. This could start their rebuild

  26. Frowny_Biscuit

Good for them. Not wanting to trade Bridges is absolutely fine. If you think Bridges is the guy you want to build around you don’t deal him. If he doesn’t take a massive leap, and you pass on a 10 year backcourt of Scoot and Simons/Sharpe, and your guy’s value doesn’t go higher, then you’ve shot yourself in the foot. There’s risk and reward for both parties.

  27. LilSpitty69

blazers fans, what if Ja was available cuz the Ja Wick stuff… could it get done? would you even want him with dame?

  28. MR___SLAVE

I actually think Mikal is a bit overrated. I’d actually prefer OG since he is a better defender and depth at C since it’s likely similar in outgoing value. I’m interested in what Orlando would want for WCJ and #6. I’m thinking 3 and Simons lands WCJ and #6 or even #6 and maybe #11. Then send #6 and 2-4x 2nds plus matching using Little, Keon, Knox to land OG. Toronto likely doesn’t get anything better than #7 offers from Indiana or 10 from the Mavs plus matching expirings or young nobodys.

Keep Nurkic and WCJ. They actually would be an ideal pair.

Go with Lillard, Sharpe, OG, Grant, Nurk/WCJ with Thybulle and Reddish and whatever PG they can get in FA that can handle a ball, pass and hit an open shot. Draft at 23 for depth.
