@Houston Rockets

[Sidery] The Raptors have called the Rockets about trading for the No. 4 overall pick, per @KellyIko (podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the…). “I’m still of the belief that they will end up trading (No. 4). If they had gotten a top-three pick, things would’ve changed.”

I’d be very worried about the future of this team if they trade 4 for a win now player, especially if they add more young players to that package

But I still doubt it happens, unless it’s for a can’t miss superstar which also isn’t happening

Would have to be a third team. They have nothing I want

There been rumor Harden is trying to form big 3 in Houston. But is Harden+Siakam+(Brown or Lillard) enough?

    What can we trade?

    2023: 4th pick
2024: Brooklyn 1st round pick, our 1st round (top 4 protected), bunches of 2nd round picks
2025: our 1st round (top 10 protected), swapping between OKC and Brooklyn, OKC get the most favorable.
    2026: Brooklyn 1st round pick
    2027: Swappable with Brooklyn
    2028: Our 1st round pick

So we can trade 2023, 2025, 2027 first roudn picks, bunches of 2nd round pick, Jalen, Jabari, Sengun, KPJ, Tari, Tate, KJ, Christopher, Garuba. Is that enough? Probably yes, but then we have no more rotation players. You can trade picks for one star and hope one of your young prospect to turn into a star. But can Harden wait? I don’t want to trade all assets and turn into Brooklyn Nets.

I wouldn’t trust any trades between good, experienced GMs and Stone, whose job thus far has been one of the simplest in the NBA: field a team that sucks in order to draft high.

If we trade 4th for Siakam I’m outta here

Iko seems like a guy who never played the game who is trolling for clicks/listens. Don’t know where the “Rockets insider” narrative came from. Sorry for the negativity. I feel like we have way more astute local guys with better opinions who deserve to be heard more than Iko. He’s low on my list. Can’t figure out why he gets on the national radar other than his affiliation with the athletic. Just my two cents. Maybe some of you can explain his appeal?

If we traded 4 for OG Anunoby straight up I wouldnt have a big issue with it

They’re going to trade the pick because this front office has a hard on for Harden. They’re going to hand over the reins to Harden and we can watch this team be mid for the next 5 years.

Looks like the front office is trying to drive the price up on the 4th pick. I can only see them trading the 4th pick for a win now player if Harden has let the front office know hes coming back. Still im really concerned. On one hand tatum and brown flourished under being a playoff team. On the other the guys might not be ready. Jalen and sengun will need a 3rd year leap, which i already suspect. Jabari might not be ready and i can see him being traded for role players. Im not super excited about any of these.

I don’t see how a top 3 pick would have changed anything for the Rockets. I believe the pick would have been Amen even if the Rockets were picking at 3 assuming Scoot is the pick at 2.
