Smart move idc what anyone says. We saw real growth all season and last 3/4 playoff games we saw him shine. Get some good assistants in there with him. Plus can’t have new HCs 4/4 years lol

Everything that’s come out and at multiple points throughout this season, it’s seemed like Ownership, Brad, and the players themselves were all on a completely different page than Mazzulla. Joe wanted to play a certain style that nobody else seemed on board with and as everyone just read in that Athletic article, it’s caused for some real issues throughout the season. I don’t understand keeping him lol

Hate being in a coaching evaluation process while sitting with a contending team. Going to be an entirely new coaching staff, will be interesting to see what vet coaches are willing to join joes staff since he isn’t as connected as pretty much any HC who usually pulls guys from all their assistant stops along the way.

Knew he’d say it but didn’t want to believe it.

Anyone with common sense knew this was the only outcome.

This is nice to hear. I know people have their problems with Mazzulla, but I am DESPERATE for some consistency in our coaching staff. If he’s Brad’s guy, I’m rocking with him too.

Let’s hope we can draw some good assistant coaches despite our coach and GM having never worked for a different NBA team in their lives. I worry that we don’t have the connections that we need. Silas would be a great pickup.

So if Joe and Jaylen are staying, are we the 4th best team in the east at best? Miami and Milwaukee without Bud are better, Philly would’ve beaten us with Nurse instead of Doc. Honestly think Knicks could’ve beaten us this year too

Getting rid of Udoka will go down as the worst move ever for this core. Just a horrible overreaction over a common thing to one if the best coaches in the game

Make Vogel the highest paid assistant in the league and grab a couple other capable guys for the staff and I’ll be much more comfortable with this decision.

    Seriously. Trust the FO.

They kept all the Ime drama in-house all year.
Had glaring deficiencies in the on-court schemes yet overcame them to reach game 7 in the ECF.
All along with a coaching staff that was clearly disjointed and one-foot-out-the door.

    They’ll be back next year.

I’m starting to not believe in Brad Stevens anymore.

Finally, can everyone shut up now

No brainer here. He saved his job once he avoided the sweep. Prove he can win playoff series and have the team win in the regular season.

Next step is evolving the offense and making sure this team keeps defensive identity consistent. Can’t turn that off and on

I knew this was going to happen it still makes me feel sick to my stomach.

  16. Dangerous_Toe_5482

Knew it would happen but pretty unfortunate, gotta pray this dude can learn quickly and give him the best assistants possible

Concerns me much less than paying Jaylen the supermax. I thought Mazulla showed growth throughout the playoffs. Obviously, having a coach learning on the job while you have a win-now team sucks but that’s the hand we were dealt. Jaylen, on the other hand, had better work on his weaknesses like ball handling/playmaking for his supermax to be worth it because he hasn’t shown any growth in those areas.

He earned the right to coach this team another season. Hopefully he can get some of his guys in as assistants, which will add some stability.

  19. aqattaq

I hope part of his growth includes a complete game plan with backup plans and adjustments to booth. If 3s are not falling, come up with another plan of attack. If the opponent zones up, make them pay.

Some of you really think you and your friends know more about coaching and running a front office than Brad Stevens

  21. holographoc

Fuck Ime Udoka. Sold out every single one of his players to get his dick wet. What a bitch.

  22. dicholasnolan

Need veteran assistants. I like that we’re not going for our 4th coach in 4 years
