HIGH Expectations for Monty Williams and the Detroit Pistons?

Spencer Raxter and Eazy discuss whether or not the Detroit Pistons are attempting to be contenders or continuing to rebuild after hiring Monty Williams. The Pistons gave a 6-year deal to Williams worth $78.5 million. With a move like this does this mean the Pistons are looking to trade the 5th overall pick for a proven veteran or will they select another young piece to this already young roster? 1. People are excited about Coach Williams and this is good. But the Pistons need to continue to build and stop dreaming for trades that will never happen

  2. Time for Troy to finish molding a championship roster. The Pistons have cash capital, young talent, and veteran pieces ie Bogie Hami

  3. They need a Physical PF aside Duren as a Starter, 15/pts, 9 rebounds, paint D. I don't know if you can find this in the Draft thus need take best available player – Amen, can play the 1,2, or 3 or possibly Whitmore if he can boost his scoring. Cade is not an All Star yet and we do not know if he will be, too slow at the 1.

Be smart and get rid of Bol as he is weak defensively, can't rebound and not part of the future – he is dead weight on the salary cap – free up room to sign a quality physical young or mid Free Agent Big Man next year, better yet package him for a Lotery pick next year – only relative untouchables are Ivey and Duran.

  4. We’re drafting drafting drafting… let’s stop acting like we’re picking at 14 it’s the 5th pick common now

  5. Hiring Monty is a win now move, but it doesn't mean you can't still stay young, draft, and build the roster organically. Monty signed a 6 years contract, he'll be here for a while. We don't have to shoot for the playoffs immediately, IMO. We can stay the course, draft and develop, make the necessary trades, but don't mortgage the future just to get some high profile player. That would be Blake 2.0 all over again. Stay patient, we'll get there soon enough if you just do things the right way.

  6. I agree with Spencer, if we bring in another star, we are in the playoffs and anything can happen. Not sure if that’s contending but playoffs anything can happen.
I think they stick with their 5th pick tho

  7. Pistons do not have a core they need to keep drafting and Miami was the #1 seed last year they been contenders
