In their nine postseason wins against Milwaukee, Boston and Denver, the Heat are shooting 46.9 percent from three – including 48.7 percent on ‘heavily contested’ threes. It’s historic, and timely, shooting, and it’s going to be a part of this team’s story no matter what happens.

This is completely unbelievable and might be an example of the basketball god’s paying us back after taking away or three-point shot all of last post season and this season. Miami’s post season success is almost all 3pt shooting as well. They haven’t defended well and there’s no other facet of their game that stands out. https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced?dir=A&sort=DEF_RATING

THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT

And yet people blamed coaching in the other series lol

Bud and especially Mazzulla aren’t perfect coaches but idk what people want them to do about this

This is shonen basketball anime in real life

  5. MrRobotTheorist

To say Miami hasn’t defended well has 0 basis. Defense is also a big part of why we win.

  6. Milwaukee allowed the heat the least amount of open 3s of any team they’ve faced and it didn’t matter

  7. _Jetto_

That % is beyond insane if you think about it. Better than prime warriors lmao

Damn, the Heat are on fire! They’re hitting threes like it’s nothing. They better hope they can keep this up if they want to go all the way!

I’ve been saying this since they beat the Bucks but people keep insisting that there are other random factors as to why they are winning these games. All you have to do after all their games is check the 3 point percentage. If it’s a very above average number, it is pretty safe to assume they won. On the other hand, if it likes like any other random teams 3 point shooting, you can assume they lost.

Wdym they haven’t defended well? I’ve thought their defense has been largely why they have even been in this. Even with the hot shooting there’s not a lot of games where they score more than 110.

I need t yall to understand how fucki g huge an anomaly this heat team is. In the 29 years of my nba Fandom, it’s by far the least likely results to ever have occur. They said fuck Vegas, fuck metrics, we gon hold our heads high and show em.

  12. AbortionCrow

No it’s actually just every team that plays them has no “heart” or “didn’t want it” and are “mentally weak”. At least that’s what everyone who reports on basketball keep telling me

  13. chivestheconqueror

u/irelli they just don’t stop, man. Tough to know how much blame rests on Bud or Mazzulla

  14. hotpocketthrowaway

Didn’t they play New York too?

  15. Ok_Tomorrow2110

“They got that dawg in em” offensive boost

And the nba really has come down to this. They actually remind of the Rockets, LET IT FLY, it almost beat the warriors with KD. LOL.

I can’t believe nobody else has tried this strategy of just not missing your shots before

  18. connie-lingus38

The headline should have ended after, it’s historic and timely shooting.

Everything needs to be a story I get it , but how does this affect lebron’s legacy

  19. Fondor_Yards

Well I guess you’re better off not defending on all three Denver, come on do it you cowar….i mean intelligent analytic observing organization.

If this is the future where every team plays zone defense & just chucks 3’s on offense, I’m afraid of the product becoming stale & boring. Sure, it’s effective when those 3’s go in, but it just feels so cheesy & unentertaining.

No hate to Spoelstra or the Heat team. If I was a Miami fan, I ultimately wouldn’t care as it clearly brings playoff success.

And it always happened to us, no matter what. We are freaking cursed.

I pray to Giannis that Griffin brings some good mojo because not only we get annihilated from 3 on defense, but we usually can’t make a 3 to save our lives on offense, either.

  22. ArthurMaxley

And Tyler Herro, arguably their best 3-point shooter along with Duncan Robinson, has been injured for most of the playoffs.

  23. Neltrix

Didn’t even have to try against the Knicks 😂
