Haynes on Lillard’s feelings about Portland and the 3rd pick: “Based off what he’s said, if they keep that pick, whether it’s Scoot or anybody else, I think a serious conversation will be had about potentially parting ways.”

Remember what cj said, this is the biggest chance lillard is traded this offseason.

The part about Boston is a bit odd. Pours cold water on a Dame for JB swap.

  3. Bolthead44

Basically the fate of the franchise hangs on what they can turn that single asset into. Awesome. Not stressful at all. Nosireeee.

  4. YoungSuplex

If you’ve been listening to what Dame has been saying you’ve known this for months

  5. If he’s not even going consider keeping the pick we have to trade him. This stuff coming out is just going to lower and lower any potential return.

    Rubbish

He’s not going anywhere. Just trying to keep the front office honest

None of the teams he mentioned have anything close to what it’ll take to acquire him

We’ll draft Miller and run it back. The Nets, Raptors want too much

  7. wir_suchen_dich

Wonder if Nurk is gonna pull some air the dirty laundry one his way out?

  8. Proper_Hurry_362

Good. Ready for the reset w dudes interested in defense.

  9. PenguinCowboy

Chauncey Billups is gonna be the reason Dame leaves Portland. A final fuck you from Olshey

The best way to get talent to Portland is through the draft. I know it isnt Dame’s timeline, but that is his best option to be a future championship contender.

Man, there’s just no way this team is building a contender. We need a legit #2 (specifically a 2-way forward, the hardest to obtain), and a complete overhaul of the second unit. We have an inexperienced coach and ownership that don’t give a fuck.

We are not gonna get a better opportunity than this. Don’t throw away Scoot or Miller and other picks and player assets just to be mid at best.

I wholeheartedly understand Dame’s position, and I don’t blame him for wanting out. This organization has failed him. Now we have a chance to put a new core together that could be something special. It’s best for all parties to just trade him.

His contract is only hurting us at this point, and he’s gonna be making 60 fucking mil in a couple years. Move him for as big a haul as we can get to improve the foundation of the rebuild.

This is how you actively lower the value of said trade piece. This is concerning. Because who does bro think is available for 3 at the moment? I just pray Cronin stands Pat if brown, Embiid, or another super star are not available and just fucking pick. I hate it here. Can it be draft day yet?

  13. longdonginyourmom

this is frustrating because it gives other teams a lot of leverage over us in trade negotiations. Dame isn’t doing the team any favors by saying shit like this

like why would a team like brooklyn make a deal with us for bridges or claxton when they know that if they don’t, they could then get dame instead

  14. Krustykrab8

Even if what Dame is saying is how he feels, he’s really making it difficult to find a fair deal with the pick. If teams know we either trade it or Dames gone, that doesn’t help. We also can’t trade it away for some small upgrade. Yeesh

  15. Competitive_Koala596

Honestly, each time he publicly pipes up, he is lowering the pick and his own value. The cynic in me thinks he is trying to make it so a team he is traded too doesn’t gut all there players and picks. If thats the case, screw him.

  16. TeamRebel208

Dames future here will be decided by the market. I am sure Cronin would love to find the perfect vet, but 1.) the player has to be available and 2.) the asking price needs to right. My big question is how much is Cronin willing to pay, for example if it’s Ant, Little, pick 3, pick 23 for Mikal and Nets GM won’t budge from that asking price what does he do? As much as I love Dame, I just don’t think I could deplete my assets for a team which I know is not legit contenders. I don’t envy Cronin, this is not going to be easy.

  17. Trading the No. 3 overall pick because of 1 player is how you set your franchise back 2 additional decades

  18. BlazersDozen

Trade Dame and create an exciting back court duo.

  19. DrPepper1904

Just came here to say this Dame stuff is wild. TWolves fan and I have seen some wild stuff, most of it horrible for the front office and franchise in general. Trade this guy, just get more back than our Garnett trade lol

  20. terrordactylz

So I guess this is his way of asking to be traded? We continue to lose trade leverage every time Lillard does another media appearance and he has to know that.

  21. Godsafk

Trade dame for even more picks and reduce the stress. #3 ain’t gonna become some contender. 2nd round exit at best.

  22. Kikizzle06

Why is anybody surprised by this? Lillard has been saying all this time it’s time to put up or shut up

  23. SPAREustheCUTTER

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but we aren’t winning with Lillard at the helm. We need size. The game has changed. I don’t want lillard to go. But I also don’t like the idea of trading the third pick for a player that gets us booted in the first round.

And then what? Lillard asks for a trade next season after we’ve appeased him?

If that happens, history won’t look kindly on this next season. All of this is a loss for the organization, a loss for lillard, and a loss to the fans.

  24. X_SkeletonCandy

If Dame wants them to get a solid return for the limited assets they have, he should probably stop going to the media to talk about the other teams he wouldn’t mind playing for.

The media has never been this relentless when it comes to pushing the “Dame wants out” narrative. It seems like every other day we have a new quote about it.

  25. Yyssiill

Honestly let him walk. Feels like we’re screwed either way cause if we go all in for someone like Siakim/Ayton/OG, we’re still just not good enough. And if we gut our future for a 2nd round exit then Lillard leaves regardless.

Sucks, but that’s what it is, and I’m more excited by the future then any squad we put together that’s the same we’ve had the last decade. Time to move on 🤷‍♂️

  26. SaulTBolls

Pressure the FO to a mid tier trade to keep our best player, gambling a pick that could help us build a new future, get mad when we don’t win it all with that trade, leave franchise because of it….

    No pressure, thanks Dame lol.
