> JUST IN: Crypto .com is shutting down its institutional exchange in the United States

The arena the Lakers and the Clippers currently play in is named “Crypto .com Arena” from “Stapels Center” after Staples previously sold the naming rights to them. We saw the Heat change their arena name from “FTX Arena” to “Kaseya Center” recently.

THE STAPLES CENTER IS BACK…. I never stopped calling it Staples tbh

arena rights arent that expensive (relatively) iirc, like in the tens of millions yearly.

like Klutch Sports could buy the rights for instance

  3. namagofuckyoself

So does another company come in and buy the rights or are we going back. or do we keep the Crypto.com Arena up there until we find someone but just keep the lights off perhaps?

  4. cypherdust

The Crypt was an underrated stadium name tbh

  5. MiaCannons

Damn, all these big crypto exchanges have been getting destroyed over the past couple years

  6. MrThreebound

Sixers have it as their jersey patch as well

  7. GovernmentDoingStuff

Crypto people are fucking ridiculous. Who knew unregulated digital currency would be an incredibly risky investment?

  8. C-DogDriver

Either bring back the Staples Center or just call it The Crypt

  9. Huge W for the culture. FUCK that stupid ass name and the scam-fraud shit associated with it. Staples for life

To me, this whole craze around crypto was always bound to fail.

This idea that you can have a decentralized currency was always an egalitarian idea. Even in it’s best form, you would still have all the wealth consolidated by very few ultra-billionaires. How is that in any way meaningfully different than the current state of affairs?

None of their arguments ever held up, and I’m glad it’s all crashing and burning now, rather than have more and more innocent people be scammed by this nonsense.

Not sure why this is posted in here, they are just closing off one part of their business that had “limited demand” per the release. Nothing will happen to the Crypto.com arena or anything else, crypto.com is still in business.

Seems like everyone in here is being misinformed as well

The US Treasury should just buy the naming rights to an arena to troll the crypto bros.

  13. Guess we can put Crypto.com Arena… in the crypt?

  14. barktothefuture

I said from the very beginning they better have got all that money upfront.

All fun and games until Miami becomes the Bang Bros Arena

  16. I will always call it Staples. That’s it’s name you can’t convince me otherwise. I heard there’s even some retail stores that named themselves after the arena.

  17. schmatz17

You can still use the app, and they never had a US exchange

Let’s all stop fighting and just appreciate the fact that this is extremely funny.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to ChatGPT Court in conjunction with MetaVerse Arena, sponsored by QuantumComputingCorp! Now watch these grown men physically throw a ball into a hoop while technology nobody understands takes over our lives!”

If you read about it this has no impact on their retail exchange, the one that the vast majority of users (like everyday people) use. This is just for institutional investors, like large corporations. No idea if the reasoning they state is valid, which was basically that nobody was using it so they’re shutting it down.

Not a shill for crypto by any means, just pointing this out because the headline makes it sound like they’re shutting down regular retail investing (I looked because I have a tiny amount of crypto using their app from a while ago).

Buncha comments on here doing the ol Facebook special of seeing a headline and commenting without even bothering to understand the reality. Crypto.com isn’t closed, at least not yet. The arena name won’t change and they are still doing retail business. This isn’t close to what happened with FTX but why would anyone bother actually understanding when you can shitpost?

  22. I_Hate_My_Cat_

Rename it PornHub Arena, you cowards!
