Our deal should also be for 2 years if we do sign him

Rockets are smart.

Stephen A has surprisingly been on the money with a lot of stuff last few months so this isnāt a nothing piece of info

Weāre bidding with ourselves no need for it to be more than a 1 year deal with a player option for the year after
peter_the_martian
Well that sucks

Should be a 1+1 and I donāt even really want that. Frankly; I wish Houston would sign him and forge our hand.

He was never going back to Houston

Sixers gonna bid against themselves like they did with Tobi LOL

Sorry I am confused. Can someone explain why Harden hype is like KD instead of Russ?
Out of the three Ex OKC players – Harden is closer to Russ than KD. But there is an artificial projection as if there is a KD demand for Harden when in reality he should get may be little better than Russ demand – nothing more IMHO.

why do people care so much about what we offer him? it is what it is, not coming out of your pocketā¦
we sign him, we are in cap hell and get our 3/4 seed and second round exit.
let him walk, a slightly less version of cap hell and we are a play in team at best.

so that means Harden is getting the full boat from Houston and he’s gone.

Yall are a bunch of reactionaries. Giving Harden a 3 year deal is better than not giving him one. Most people are coming at this with 2 main points:
1. Harden is old/washed/a playoff choker 2. We did the same thing with Tobi and Horford
On point #1, while (partially) true, it’s worth noting that the Celtics are a better constructed team than us and would have easily swept us without Harden. His 2 40+ point carry jobs kept this team afloat. Yeah he shat the bed in the last couple games, but that’s a reason to give him a shorter term, cheaper deal. A 4 year max is obviously terrible, but something like 3/90 or 3/100 is not a bad deal at all.
On point #2, no one is considering maxing Harden; Sixers shouldn’t offer any more than $35M/yr (or even $30M/yr) for 3 years and Harden would happily take that. He definitely would not take a 2 year deal unless it was something like $40M/yr, which is a terrible deal for both parties. Tobias and Horford were not worth the money they got, but Harden is currently better than both of them, will be better than them in 3 years, AND will get paid less by us.

Edit: Not to mention, who exactly do we get instead of Harden? The 2024 free agent class is headlined by Fred Van Vleet, a 5’11” PG on the tail end of his career. He’s a worse passer, worse defender, and comparable scorer (on a good day) compared to Harden. CP3 could also be in consideration, but the man literally got cut from a contending team and is 38 years old. He’d be a good backup guard, but would do nothing to replace Harden’s output (plus, he has the same choking rep that Harden does).
Everyone here saying “dump Harden” has no better option other than “blow everything up and rebuild” which is so dumb of a notion that I won’t dignify it with a rebuttal. This team is a few tweaks and a good coach away from a title, and we’re already half way there. Don’t throw in the towel so early lmao

If we can get him for two, Iād absolutely do that. Anything more, Iām not so sure.

Whether or not the Rockets ever really wanted him or just wanted to fuck with Daryl, it became pretty clear once the new CBA went in that they were in no way going to piss huge money + years at Harden
