Doc Rivers on what has to happen to take Joel over the top: “Number 1 he’s got to be healthy and number 2 he’s got to make all his teammates better…when he does that it’s gonna be hard to stop and I think he will do it. “

>”He’s just got to make his teammates better on a consistent basis not just on the court but off the court. You have to let them know that you love em, because they love you we forget how young he is and we also forget that the first two years he didnt play and Bill i’m telling you that sets a tone”.
>
>”His numbers are unfair, because if you look at his numbers the last 3 years in the regular season and compare to the playoffs they’re not every good. But alot is due to the first year he hurts his knee, next year he gets hit in the face, tears the ligaments in his hand and this year he hurts his knee. And he was never the same after he came back this year ”

Well then Doc you should have put him in position to do so. He can’t make players better when all 4 are standing there not moving when he has the ball

Embiid needs to shed like 20 pounds, take some load management games during the season, and focus primarily on defense. At minimum I think once those things happen then he can get past the second round.

So many subtle shots at Embiid this entire pod. Just a shame the day after Jokic gets his title. I didn’t need this salt on top of it.

Most telling for me was Doc talking about guys not cutting because they know they won’t get the ball.
The offense is absolutely stagnant when Joel gets the ball. Is that coaching? Doc seems to think not.

Doc what did you do to put him in a position of making his teammates better?

“Would you ask Pop that question?” -Glenn, probably

The only answer is that the Sixers need to build a talented team around him, which they can’t do thanks to the horrible Colangelo years.

This quote brought to you by the coach whose only play late in close games was “James pass to Jo. Jo shoot”. Worked great in the regular season. Not so much after that 3-2 lead.

Doc got fucking fired and still won’t say a bad thing about this man….meanwhile this sub throws him under the bus repeatedly and labels him a quitter. I won’t even be upset when he requests a trade and wins a ring elsewhere, i just expect it at this point.

teammates can’t get better if you send them all to the weakside on a bunch of plays.

Confirms what I’ve always felt/seen over the years that ibforst noticed in the bubble and that is that Embiid separates himself from the team and doesn’t really involve himself that much with teammates.
