This UConn Guard Is The ANSWER To The Raptors Shooting Problems

The Toronto Raptors had two distinct problems with their team this season, depth and shooting, The 2023 NBA draft provides an excellent opportunity to address this need without having to dip into the free agent market and the perfect movement shooter could be available at 13th overall for Masai Ujiri in the University of Conneticutt’s shooting guard, Jordan Hawkins.

Hawkins has the leading figure as UConn won the 2023 NCAA National Championship and his excellent rise in his sophomore season has him as a serious candidate to land as a lottery pick in the draft and he should firmly be on Toronto’s radar as we get closer and closer to June 22nd.

What sort of skills can he bring to the team and is he the best fit for the Raptors? Jacob Gramegna breaks it all down today on Amateur Hour Sports.

  1. I was not looking at this prospect at all until recently but he may be my number 1-2 choice right now. Lengthy, confident and can shoot. His shooting form is fundamentally sound and consistent. He has some edge to him too which this teams needs.

  2. I trust Bobby and Masai. If the entire core comes back next year. That will have changed. We need to cash in NOW on pascal. 100%. The new CBA is going to destroy teams with too many high end players. We can’t go past this season, with this team for multiple reasons. Hit the reset button. Trade pascal and OG for young hauls and rebuild through the draft

  3. Hawkins would be a great pick. Low risk and has a chance to be an elite role player. He'd pair well with Scoot or Dame if we manage to trade Siakam for one of them.

  4. Lack of shooting and guess what, it only got worse when we added Poeltl into the front court.

I like Poeltl, but him on the team means we really need shooting from everywhere else on the floor.

Hawkins could be the right weapon. I could see it.

  5. If he is around, sure. I think he's too good to still be on the board. More I think on this, just take Nick Smith. Get a scorer and get it over with.

  6. i think front office must try and get as much top 10 picks as possible, if somehow we get 3 + 8 while saving our own 13pick i would be very happy drafting scoot/miller,dick and lively 2 which all be amazing additions to this team

  7. Yea drafting a shooting will be good as we've been drafting length and guys who can play multiple position but not a real shooter.
