Championship(s) MVP Club leader (points/Rebs/assists)
Gilbert never made an ECF, has some all nbas but not MVP, and isn’t up there in club standings.
John Wall has more points and is franchise leader in assists. So the question is do you retire Wall’s number who has better numbers as a Wizard. The if you retire Wall you can make the case for Beal. If you want Gilbert you probably retire Beal, Wall and Areanas and that’s a lot for a club that didn’t see a conference finals with them.
Melo isn’t retired as Knicks or Nuggets (as of now), it’s pretty hard to do and Gilbert is just below the threshold.

It’s unofficially retired. No one is gonna wear it.
