[The Athletic] The Lakers would have strong interest in signing Chris Paul if the guard is waived or stretched by the Suns, multiple team sources told @jovanbuha.

Should we do it?

  1. Waiting patiently for June 28th to come

Hope he picks us over the other La team

YES PLEASE! Chris Paul’s advanced stats and impact exceeded both DLo and Dennis for the entirety of last season. Even an “old” Chris Paul would be AMAZING, but we would need to probably retain DLo for PG Depth

Go get paid Dennis, you deserve it bro

Only new notable thing from the article is that we’d look to sure up our PG spot by bringing back D-Lo and signing Chris Paul.

When’s the deadline for Phoenix to waive CP3?

No brainer, dude is one of the all time greatest play makers. It lets LeBron rest way more and play off ball. I just think they need to pick up another able defender for Jamal.

Comments on here saying minimum like any contender isn’t gonna line up for a possible 5-10 a year contract for him is wilding.

We could really only get him for an MLE. If he’s interested, go for it. He won’t be expensive, he’s a great vet who’s adapted his game, and he won’t have to do that much in the regular season to get tired too easily.

I think CP3 is an upgrade on Dlo in general. Would not be adverse to it

I’m not for this, I think if you can get some more shooting on the team, lock up Reaves and Rui, they’ll be better off. CP3 is starting to look completely unable to do what he used to do.

If it’s a minimum and he’s on the bench, it’ll work. But it has to be him accepting he’s falling out of every starting rotation everywhere. This screams Steve Nash to the Lakers vibes, his age is just going to work against him.

CP3 playing 25 minutes off the bench will be huge. Lakers bench will average 45+ ppg and even increase leads at times.

I wouldn’t mind as a vet minimum signing but I think the Spurs end up absorbing his contract

  12. LemonPepperWangz

Of course we would. And should.
But damn what 10 years late

  13. momosites

As an assistant coach, sure. But as a player forget it, he’s damaged goods. Plus we don’t need anymore ball stoppers on offense and we need someone that can keep up with Jamal Murray laterally.

  14. the-pak-man

I dunno… they call him Curse Paul for a reason

  15. AnimalMan-420

I’d love to see Chris Paul come off the bench and close games. Kinda like Dwayne Wade did the last couple years of his career.
